It all started a few months ago when I was starting to become overwhelmed in trying to balance it all. The thing was, I wasn't really balancing anything at all. It was one of those things where you convince yourself for so long that it's fine, you can handle it and then after time, you realize that you have a handle on about one thing [nothing] and admit that maybe, just maybe, you don't want to go at it alone anymore. After enough mental and emotional breakdowns, Shawn and I decided it was time to bring on help. Somebody who was strong in the areas that I wasn't, somebody who could allow me the freedom to know that I don't have to do it all, somebody who would be invested in the success of this place and truly be excited about getting to be a part of it. Thankfully, Becca is this woman. We didn't know each other before she joined the team and now I don't know how I would survive without her.
It still blows my mind and makes me all misty eyed at the same time when I step back and think about it. Six years ago on that random day in February, I never [ever] imagined that one day I would be able to call this blog my career, let alone give somebody else the opportunity [and hopefully others over time] the chance to provide a fun, flexible, creative job for them as well! In the last month or so I have been fortunate enough to somehow become a "boss", but it's so much more than that. It's an opportunity to come together with another female [you will get to know her a lot better over time] learn from her creative mind, have somebody to constantly collaborate with and empower one another to make this space more than it has ever been before. It is because of Becca that I am starting to fall in love with my blog all over again.
After a month and a half of working together, we are starting to find our stride and determine what tasks I am best suited working on and where she has the most fun [hint: it's designing some of the pretty collages and graphics you may have noticed recently!] We both typically work from home with one day during the week where we get together to hash out ideas, discuss tasks that need completed, set some goals and of course, drink coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.

With March being National Women's Month we've partnered with Sole Society to give you a brief little glimpse into our work relationship and the most important thing, what we wear to get the job done ;) Sole Society has definitely been a go-to recently when it comes to all things handbags, shoes, and accessories. I love the look of all of their products and the great prices that come along with it. I've always been super impressed with the quality and selection.

So what does she do and what do I do? I mostly eat and she reminds me to maybe not eat so much. Aside from that [although that mostly covers it ;)] I will still be the one you hear from 99.9% of the time on my blog and social media accounts [although she is working on some fun upcoming spring trends and St Patrick's Day inspiration posts for you!] while she is busy working away on design work, making sure some of my emails actually get answered [I suck so bad at this], keeping me on schedule and helping to keep this space fresh, relevant and exciting. We have some BIG things planned for 2017 and are starting to get to work on them [more details to come] so that will keep us busy for the next 285 days or so.
I am so beyond thankful for Becca and the role she is playing both here and in my personal life. When you can find somebody to not just work for you but become a good friend with in the process, well it's like discovering an extra box of macaroni and your cheese in your pantry when you thought you were out. Hidden gems I tell you.
my bag [I love that it fits my laptop and has room for other things as well!]
So there you have it - the peanut butter to my jelly.
Who is one woman you'd like to celebrate this month? Make sure you tell them why you appreciate them because let's face it, without each other we are only half as good as we can be together.
disclosure: thank you to Sole Society for partnering together to initiate this conversation. While I am being compensated for this post, all items, stories and opinions are my own.
