3 Perfect Outfits For Wine Tasting [Or For Doing Anything...But Wine Tasting Encouraged]

I'm not sure why, but I equate fall with wine. I take that back. I equate most everything with wine. I think that's what happens when you don't have kids. Most people are all "pumpkin patches! trick or treating! corn mazes!" and I'm all "wine! I want more wine! take me to wineries!"

Clearly parents have healthier habits.

Regardless, if you are going to play the part you must look the part. And that's where today's blog post comes into play. You may recall this post where I touched on different looks to wear with the beloved bootie, but today we are raising the bar [literally, up your leg we are going] and sharing three different looks all around the classic riding boot. You know why I love riding boots? Because it doesn't matter how long or short your jeans are. You just get to hide everything underneath. I also love riding boots because no heel. Sometimes wearing flat shoes are like riding a unicorn over a cloud [or at least that's what I envision it to be like]. Comfortable all day long, a necessity when trying all of the Rieslings, Cabernets and Chardonnays.

As I mentioned in my previous post, when it comes to shopping for shoes Nordstrom is my go to. I have yet to find a better selection of quality, comfortable, cute shoes for all women, men and kids [my nieces favorite pair of shoes are these cute things]. Between the free shipping, free returns, sizing suggestions, etc they make it easy peasy when shopping online. I never thought I would become an online shoe shopper but here I am, buying shoes and stuff with a click of the button.

You'll notice the same boots in all of the outfits before - they are these beloved Frye Melissa Button Riding Boots. The smell of the leather alone is enough to make anybody fall in love. You'll notice they do come in both regular calf and extended calf and come in several colors.

K, onward to these outfits. The common theme besides the boots? Tops and or bottoms that allow for some extra breathing room, mostly because wine tasting leads to eating and eating leads to more wine and well, all of the extra room is necessary.

First up we have this classic dripping in fall colors look. Grab your favorite top, wrap that scarf around your neck and go! I love these twist front shirts [don't worry - while they say dry clean, I wash on delicate cycle and air dry and works like a champ!] and plaid scarves this season.

twist front shirt [true to size, wearing in small, available in 5 great colors] // scarf [similar here] // jeans [the softest! true to size] // boots [wearing in regular calf, cognac/cognac] // boots extended calf // purse

Next up, the all forgiving poncho. This thing is rather amazing, mostly because of the fleece lining inside. While it's perfect for lounging around the house, it's even more perfect for taking on fall head first. Pair it with jeans or leggings, boots and you're done. Super simple, super comfortable, super cute.

poncho [wearing in XS/Small, available in grey as well // jeans [the softest! true to size]

Last but not least, a personal favorite - the "oh no you didn't!" the leggings outfit. I was hesitant when buying these live in leggings because well, $50 for leggings seemed like a little much to me but a couple of things. One, they are amazing. Two, with how often I wear them [like more than jeans come fall and winter] I will get every dollar out of them possible and three, they hold up wear after wear after wear. I love that they are a little thicker, not sheer at all, and shape my legs and booty nicely. Anyhow, throw on your favorite tunic and add a cute little vest over top, grab that glass of wine and you're good.

striped tunic [only $19! wearing in XS] available in solid colors here // leggings [wearing in black, XS] // boots //

What's your favorite wine tasting [errrrrr, fall outfit] from above?

disclosure: thank you so much to Nordstrom for partnering together for this post. While I am being compensated for this post, all items were hand selected and purchased by myself and opinions on how great they are, are 100% my own.

Stitch Fix Reveal #53 // Be My Buyer!

Here we are again! I swear Stitch Fix is actually sending me a box every 4 days because there is no way in H that it's been a month already. I'm really over how time flies even faster every year older you get. JUST SLOW DOWN. One second it's the middle of the afternoon and I'm over here eating a Dairy Queen blizzard and the next minute it's the next morning and I'm drinking coffee thinking "how is it Thursday already!?" Which brings me to my next point - IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS! I'm over here thinking summer is lingering when stores are all ready for the holiday season.

So none of that really had any point to where I was getting but it's okay, we're getting there. For this particular 53rd fix of mine I had requested from my stylist to send me items for our Denver and Vail trip. Back when I requested this I was seeing temps of 30 degrees in Vail so I basically asked her to send me 5 blankets. As she does in her typical awesome stylist spirit, she delivered on 5 great pieces to wear there and back at home. The only problem? I have absolutely no clue what I want to keep. So that's where you all come into play today - if you could so kindly comment below, on Facebook, or Instagram which 2-3 items you would keep, please let me know. I've got to check out asap so any help would be much appreciated.

But before we begin here are a few words about Stitch Fix and how it all works if you haven't read this the 52 other times I've wrote about it ;)

1. You start by filling out your style profile - you will complete all sorts of questions on sizing, pricing, preferences, colors, etc. You can also write notes about likes/dislikes. Make sure to link your fashion board on Pinterest so your stylist can see what you like!

2. Order your first fix! Your card will be charged a $20 styling fee however, if you keep any item [one or more] you will be credited back the $20. Because of this I always recommend keeping at least one item or you are essentially giving away $20 for nothing in return. You will receive 5 items [made up of clothing, jewelry, and handbags, whatever you prefer]. I personally only want clothing in my fix so I just always let my stylist know!

3. Decide what you want to keep and what you want to send back [in a postage paid envelope]! You have 3 business days to do so - use this time to try everything on, see what you have in your closet that pairs well with it and don't be afraid to say yes to something that you wouldn't normally. That's what makes Stitch Fix so fun! If you keep all 5 items you will receive 25% off your entire fix, winning!

It should be noted that while I have chosen to receive monthly fixes, this is in no way a subscription service and you are able to decide when you want another fix, whether that be in 6 months or 2 years from your first fix! As always, if you ever have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments section below. Okay, here we go!

1. Emily Rose Melodee Cowl Neck Pullover - Small - $64

leggings [my absolute favorite!] // over the knee boots [30% off!] // purse // floppy hat

Put a cowl neck on anything and I'm sold. Especially on a sweater that is long enough to wear with leggings. Is there really anything else you need in life? Grey is always a perfect winter color as it makes you look a little bit like giant snowflake. A little dirty snowflake but a snowflake none the less. I do love this sweater so when I said I was confused on what I would like to keep, I was partially lying because this is the one thing I am sure of. Please agree.

2. Andrew Marc Risor Quilted Puffer Coat - Small - $168
jeans [25% off! my favorite!] // riding boots [20% off! wearing in cognac/cognac]

I absolutely love this brand of coats [you can see more here and here!] as I have received other Andrew Marc coats in previous fixes. They are so warm and feel so great on. I love the fit of this jacket, the detachable fur detail and of course, the color. I think for this it mostly comes down to the question of if I need another winter coat or not. Realistically the answer is no, however, also realistically I want the answer to be yes. HELP.

3. RD Style Kolding Faux Suede Vest - Small - $78

I can totally appreciate why my stylist sent me this vest, as I had asked for great fall pieces to wear on our trip. However, for some reason this vest just does not seem "me" at all. You know when you come to those moments in life where you are all "WHO AM I?!" I feel like I'm asking myself that question often when I have this on. Do I think it could be adorable on somebody else? Yes. Do I think that person will ever be me? No.

4. Olive & Oak Foray Hooded Knit Top - Small - $54
jeans [possibly size down one] // flats [20% off!]

For starters, I obviously shouldn't have worn a purple bra with this top. That or I should have worn a tank underneath but who has time for that? This is an exceptionally light hoodie which is kinda nice. I do love the color of it, I just don't know if I love it enough to pay $54 for it, you feel me?

5. Tart Terra Faux Fur Vest - Small - $158
black sweater [size down, wearing in XS] // jeans [25% off! my favorite!] // booties in coco loco leather  // brown leather purse // over the knee boots [30% off!] // black leather purse

And now for what I think is quite possibly the best for last. I haven't ever owned a faux fur vest, but now that they sent me this I'm convinced I need like 20 more. Mostly for the blanket factor. This thing is incredibly soft and quite luxurious looking. I feel a little bit like an impostor in it because let's be real, I'm not fancy but it's sometimes fun to pretend. I love that you can pair this with black or brown as shown above. I would also love this with an ivory blouse type shirt underneath. So many ideas running through my head.

So there we have it friends! 5 pieces, 5 confused face emojis. Cast your vote for your top 1, 2, or 3 favorites! Thanks in advance - Stitch Fix is so much more fun with you ladies around.

5 Things // From Must-Have Day Planners to Peeing In The Pool

I'm back for another round of "5 things" - the time in the week where I dump anything and everything on you. That almost made it sound like I am taking a dump on you and well, yikes. Sorry. I promise I will never do that to you. However, I don't promise that I won't accidentally go in my pants in front of you because that totally happened a couple of years ago AT WORK. It was as awful as it sounds. I was in the hallway walking, waved hello to a male co-worker and BAM, everything down my leg. In my defense I had been out of work all week with the flu so before you go thinking I don't have one ounce of pride left in my body, well...never mind you are right, I don't.

I don't know how that all just happened. My apologies if you are even still here reading this. I feel bad for you guys sometimes. You show up expecting to read about butterflies and Cheetos and I drop some bomb on you that I pooped my pants at work once. I need to start thinking my blog posts out in advance. And maybe add in some tact with them. I think that's something I'll consider for my 40's. Which wow, that just drove home the reality that 4-0 is the next decade that I am headed towards. I have no words, just wrinkles forming on my chest. Truly. I AM SO GLAD I WENT TANNING EVERY SINGLE DAY IN HIGH SCHOOL.

Okay, back to the matter at hand - 5 things in my life right now. Let me get into them or I feel like I could spend all day just sitting here typing words that should never be published on the internet with my name tied to them. It's actually amazing that I am married, have friends and a job.

1. So what's new you ask? Well, for starters I need to stop pretending that you asked questions. But other than that - not much really. I've been eating the same hot chicken salad I made a week ago for every meal since so that's fun. I also haven't washed my car in a solid 3 weeks or so. I did just do laundry so you know, winning. OH! And I have a new favorite bright pink sweater. So yeah, lots of big things over here.

tunic [wearing in small] // black pants [true to size] // over the knee boots [30% off!] // purse

2. In case you were wondering (you weren't) but that pool we had installed is all done now. My nieces broke it in [which reminds me, they were in there for 3 hours and never got out once....hi, our new pool is full of pee] a few weeks ago. We may be that aunt and uncle who had it at 74 degrees for them to swim in [don't worry, their lips were blue for only 20 minutes of the 3 hours] and then cranked it up to 90 degrees after they left so we could swim. I'm pretty sure my favorite time to use this is going to be at night because it lights up and becomes a night club basically. To see what I mean, click here.

3. I'm starting to think that it's time to buy Christmas gifts and that thought alone is sending me into a panic. In all seriousness though, when I discovered this last night I felt like I was already breathing easier. If you think that I'm going to be putting together fun gift guides for her, for him and shoot maybe even for kids over the next month or so you would be absolutely right.

4. If you are into oils or have any desire to learn more about them, there is going to be an interactive live learning session on my facebook page tomorrow (Wednesday) evening at 8:30 pm EST so hit that up if you would like. It won't be my face doing the video [thank goodness, can you imagine just how many times I would touch my hair in a 30-45 minute video?!] Anyhow, it will be fun so be there or be square.

ummm yeah. so I might use my stress away often. and if I can't open it, I bite it open.

5. Welllllllll, we are Colorado bound soon and I am racing around like a chicken trying to get everything done before takeoff. So many nails that need painted, so many items that need packed, so many frickin' things to cross of a to-do list. JUST LET ME BE ON VACATION ALREADY. Oh you guys - I just ordered my 2017 planner [Day Designer for the win!] which really has zero point with what I was saying but who cares! Here's the palmy one I picked! I can't wait to fill that baby up with stuff. And by stuff, I mean notes to myself to not ever reference pooping my pants again on a public platform. If you are a write stuff down junkie like myself, this has been my favorite planner for the past 3 years now - I couldn't physically live without it at this point.

ps. I went to the bathroom during the writing of this post [don't worry, it was just number one] and my zipper is no longer able to go back up. This isn't a huge deal to those of you who wear underwear buuuuuut. yeah.

pps. the remaining blog posts for the week I have up my sleeve - tomorrow I'll be revealing my latest stitch fix box and by Friday a post should be up on different wine tasting outfits. or you know, just outfits. but wine tasting outfits sounds more fun and if I have time I'll sprinkle in something else. Don't count on the sprinkle.

Oh baby, bootie season is in full effect. Not to be read as "booty season" - major difference there people. Although now that I mention it, I am sure that season would be equally as exciting. Back to the PG matter at hand though - shoes. I recently purchased what I am deeming my favorite pair of closed toe booties I've ever owned [that's a big title for one pair of shoes to hold, but this pair is doin' it]. You see, a few months ago I purchased my favorite pair of opened toe booties [see them here] and well, when I discovered that my boyfriend Vince [as in Camuto] came out with a very similar style that I could wear not just in the fall, but in the winter as well, I was sold hook line and sinker.

Real quick before we get started - when it comes to shopping for shoes, I have found Nordstrom to have the largest selection of high quality, absolutely adorable, comfortable shoes for all seasons. They carry a ton of brands that I love [hi again Vince! And then there is Halogen, UGG, Lucky Brand, Sam Edelman and more]. Because I don't have a Nordstrom close to me, I do 100% of my shopping with them online. Thankfully because of their free shipping and free returns [they even include the label for you!], it makes it super simple to order, try on, and decide if they work or not. Add in their sizing recommendations for each item and well, 9 out of 10 times it's a perfect fit. All of that to say, if you need some new shoes [I think that covers us all] be sure to check out their full selection of women's shoes

Today I thought it would be fun to share a few different ways to wear and style booties this season. Some people can be intimidated by booties but girlfriend, embrace em'. Find a pair that's comfortable, cute and durable and wear the heck out of them. Jeans, leggings, tights, bare legs, your options are unlimited. Here's 3 easy to achieve looks...

1. The ultimate "look, it's fall!" outfit - cardigan, scarf, floppy hat, coffee in hand, check, check, check!

I love everything about this outfit mostly because it just oozes cozy and makes me feel like a walking billboard for fall. To achieve this look I simply threw on a pair of distressed jeans, white long sleeve top, and high-low cardigan. I then proceeded to top it all off with a floppy hat, geometric scarf, handbag, and of course, ankle booties. Because these jeans are a little too long for me to wear regularly [I'm 5'4 for reference] I simply cuffed them up twice as you can see. Grabbed my beloved caramel apple spice and look complete!

handbag - available in 3 colors [love this bag!]
high-low cardigan - available in 3 colors, wearing in XS

floppy hat - available in 5 colors
scarf - for tutorial on how to fold and wear this, watch here

2. The effortless dress

mock neck shift dress - available in 5 colors/prints, wearing in small

Fall is the perfect time to soak up any lingering warmer temps that summer has left behind before the frigid temps that winter has right around the corner hits. I love the dress and bootie look as it's easy, yet looks like you put a lot of effort into your outfit [jokes on them]. This is perfect for a fun daytime activity, an evening concert or any other excuse you can think to wear it! Ankle booties look awesome with bare legs spring, summer and all fall long. Note: if you can't bring yourself to do the whole bare legs thing [I get it, shaving is annoying], tights can be equally as cute.

3. The KISS look - Keep It Simple Sweetie

If there was ever an outfit that spoke to me, it is this. Cozy sweater, comfy jeans, cute shoes and done. No frills, just good basics all together. I especially love the over-sized sweaters that don't require sucking in 24/7. Ain't nobody got time for that. I could just sit on random people's doorsteps all day long in this outfit...and I would have. Except they came home. oops.

jeans - true to size

ribbed mock neck sweater - available in several colors, size down - wearing in XS

And there you have it - 3 looks to rock all season long. Now what are you waiting for - go find the booties of your dreams ladies!
