Home Tour // The Great Outdoors

Because many of you are new around here, I thought it would be fun to do a complete home series on the blog in the coming weeks. While I have done several before/after posts and spring or Christmas tours, I haven't really done just a regular ole home tour. With the majority of our time spent outside right now I thought we would start there.

If you aren't new here, you may recall this post where I did a sneak peak into our new patio earlier this spring where I shared what it looked like before. It's amazing what some concrete and patio railing can do for one's appearance and soul. I am so thankful that we decided to make a great outdoor space for us to spend time on as we certainly have taken full advantage of the extra space. Lets take a peak shall we?

We'll start right here - with the main hangout spot. When I spotted this furniture at Hayneedle, I knew it was just the ticket. Thankfully they were willing to partner together and BAM, it all came together even better than I envisioned. Orange is a constant theme that runs through our house [see our kitchen here] so it was fun to bring that pop of color outside. Here you have it, the grand reveal...

We absolutely love the gas fire table as we have always resorted to the old fashioned method of lighting sticks and newspapers on fire type of thing. We've officially graduated to adulthood and I gotta say, this whole turn of a knob thing and a flame ignites thing is pretty freaking neat.

decorative pillows here and here
light up anchor // clock came from a vintage store [it's an aluminum trash can lid] // other pillows

storage accent table // decorative pieces here and here // citronella candle // planter

And then for the other important [okay, most important] area - where we eat.

table and chairs set from Home Depot [not seeing it online] // light up umbrella - LOVE this thing!

We were fortunate enough to have enough space to pour a second area of concrete that houses additional seating. For this area we wanted something a little more laid back so we went back to our roots and placed a traditional fire pit surrounded by these amazing POLYWOOD Adirondack chairs. We love hanging out over on this area and especially love that we have enough seats for people to spread out and have different places to hang.

And there we have it - our complete outdoor oasis. We couldn't be happier with this entire space. Now, who's ready to pour a glass of wine or fill up their mug of coffee and come hang? See you soon ;)

Stay tuned for more home tours coming soon!

  1. Beautiful! I love your style. I think we could be style twinsies and by that, I mean you do all the hard work of figuring out what goes together and I'll just follow your lead! LOL. :) But seriously, a question on the adirondack chairs....do they seem like they will hold up well near the heat of the fire? We have an outdoor fireplace and I've been eyeing these at Target, but the hubby thinks they may not hold up to the heat??

    1. Yes, we have had zero problems with them around the heat! We have them a little back from the fire as you can see and people probably scoot them back slightly when in them [mostly so their legs don't burn off, ha!] but that hasn't been an issue with the chairs at all. We love that they are weather resistant, clean up crazy easy and can fold up for easy storage! We plan on buying more in the future!

  2. Erin, I love your blog!!! Seriously girlfriend, your humor/wit kills me. This outdoor living space is beautiful. I'm definitely ordering one of those adirondack chairs for my front porch (just for decoration, maybe occasional sitting). Keep up the great posts

  5. Your backyard is so pretty! I absolutely love your style. It may be time for me to graduate to adulthood and invest in a gas fire pit too. Throwing logs & paper in mine hoping it will light is getting old :)

  6. I could be your mama, but I still follow your blog for the humor and wonderful ideas and fun you provide. This outdoor space is an incredible extension of your home....and I absolutely LOVE it!!! I do have a question though in regard to your cushions and pillows, etc. How do they hold up in the weather, rain, dust in the air, bugs/spiders, etc? I am leery about adding these to my deck furniture for every day and feel like I would only want to put everything together if I knew we were going to be using it consistently.

I read and appreciate every one of your comments. Thanks for stopping by my space and sharing a piece of yourself on this huge ole internet. I meant that in the least creepy way possible. I'm just good at making everything awkward. Anyhow, thank you for your comments. They make me smile :)
