When In Nashville [Where To Eat, What To Do, Where To Stay, What To Wear…]

July 13, 2016

Last weekend Shawn and I ventured off to Nashville to spend a long weekend with my childhood best friend and her husband to celebrate a little 30th birthday action. I’ve known the girl since we were around 5 years old and within 8 days of each other we both turn the big 3-0 so a grand ole party was in store. And by that I mean a lot of playing cards, laying around a pool, in bed by 10 and lots of water for the preggo herself [her, not me]. It was the perfect amount of relaxation mixed with fun.

I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that one of you, perhaps maybe even two, are planning or would like to plan a trip to Nashville, so I thought I would give you the full rundown of what we did, where we ate and all that good stuff. While Nashville is known for country music, there is so much more to the city than just that. And by so much more I mean a crap ton of cute places to eat and drink in the prettiest of atmospheres. The 10 pounds I had to gain on the trip? hashtag worth it. I should also state here that hands down the nicest people ever live in this place. I don’t know how or why it happened that way [never mind, I just figured it out. they get to stare at the butts of Luke Bryan and the legs of Carrie Underwood all day]. Alas, the complete breakdown of our trip. Strap on your belt buckles, it’s about to get long.

For starters, we stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Green Hills which is a new-ish great little hotel right next to the Green Hills Mall [always stay near a mall, your husband will be SO excited ;)] and super clean and nice. This was our second time staying there and I would totally recommend it as you are away from the hustle and bustle of downtown but only 10-15 minutes out from all the action.

If you are in Nashville you should definitely spend some time down on Broadway to get your fix of live music in. We ventured off to The Tin Roof for lunch after checking in and had some killer quesadillas and tacos while listening to a steller band that made me daydream about becoming a famous musician. I blame it on the beer.

While Broadway is fun, it’s also full of people and gets crazier as the day goes on. However, the drinks are great, the music is better and the fun is plentiful to be had.

Our first evening in N-Town we wandered off to East Nashville to eat at The Pharmacy which is known for their burgers. Now I love me some meat in my mouth so I was pretty dang excited to try this place out. They also have a cute beer garden with those dreamy string lights so yeah, you can’t go wrong at this place. I had the mission city burger topped with guac, black beans, pico de gallo and other awesome stuff.

Because a burger and fries isn’t enough calories [duh] we crossed the street over to Jeni’s Ice Cream to sample every single flavor before making our final selections. It’s cool guys, they encourage it.

Because July in Nashville is something similar to cooking yourself in a broiler for 10 hours straight, we opted to take advantage of the rooftop pool both mornings/early afternoons.
That is until we had the bright idea to go eat hot fried chicken at Hattie B’s for a light healthy lunch. Four words. Pimento macaroni and cheese. Get it.

That evening we did what every party of 4 in their 30’s does – we headed off to Pinewood Social [seriously my new favorite place in Nashville] and busted out some cards alongside some delicious cocktails. Between the awesome outdoor space, in ground pool, vintage bowling lanes, airstream bar, bocce ball courts, and the list goes on – this place was legit.

For dinner we went to Adele’s in The Gulch for our favorite meal and experience of the trip. Go, order the spaghetti and love every second of it. You’re welcome. You know it’s a good place when you can’t decide on the dessert so the waiter responds with “why choose? it’s on me” and then brings you three. Okay fine, if I have to.

Our last and final day aside from more pool time was filled with of course, more drinks and food time. Our first stop? Clyde’s on Church. Another fun spot to hang, play some table tennis, shuffleboard, or of course – cards at your table. The candied bacon certainly didn’t suck either.

For more fun we went a few minutes down the street for margaritas at Saint Anejo. Rosemary Ginger marg? Don’t mind if I do.

Our last meal of the trip was at Moto for some rustic Italian and while I wish I could tell you if my meal was good or not, I have absolutely zero clue. And no it wasn’t because I was passed out on the ground but was because I was so full of snot that I couldn’t taste a freaking thing. Pretty I know.

It was such a fun trip with these freak shows and I’m so thankful for the time away that we were able to spend together. Grab those friends of yours, head to Nashville and get down with yo bad selves. You won’t regret a thing.

ps. Here’s a few more shots of some outfits I wore while there. Remember to pack light, it’s hotter than balls and while I get that big ole boots are fun to wear in a country setting, they would probably make you miserable so do the responsible thing, sandals for all.
