What You Need To Know About CMA Fest And Why You Need To Go

A couple of weeks ago we set out to the great state of Tennessee for a few fun filled days at CMA Fest. For those of you who have no idea what that is, the acronym stands for Country Music Association Festival. It also stands for "best four days of your life". I am assuming many of you have never been (yet) so I thought I would let you know what it's all about in 10 easy bullet points.
1. Bars. All day every day.
 2. Classy photo ops.
3. Fake tats and short shorts.
4. Drink(s).
5. Friends. Take em'. It's more fun that way...Oh and your husband too. You can bring him I guess.
6. Food. Because number 4.
7. The Riverfront. Your home every day.
8. LP Stadium. Your home every night.
9. The pool. Really your home day or night. You decide.
10. Only the best music artists ever. Amen.
Need anymore convincing? If so, see Carrie Underwood's legs. That's what I thought. See you all in June ;)

Babies, Birthdays, Boats, and Brides

 tank from Printed Palette

You know those weekends that pass and you are left feeling like you are ready for the weekend to start? That would be one of those times. The past couple of days have been a wee bit busy. Between co-hosting a baby shower, celebrating Shawn's birthday, attending my grandpa's wedding, doing ALL of the laundry in the world [but seriously], eating like it's going out of style, annnnnnd laying on the boat the days were full. Looking back it was the ultimate celebratory weekend. Babies, birthdays and brides. I loved every single second of it and can't imagine life without all of the business and festivities. Summer always goes fast but holy heck people - it's almost July already.

Here's a few photos from the past few days:

First up, baby shower. Our original plan for this shower was to be a pool party/swimsuit and cover up theme. We envisioned sipping cocktails [and mocktails for the preggo] while floating on rafts, laughing it up, all that good stuff. Well apparently the baby shower Gods were not on our side for that plan because Saturday decided to be 59 degrees and nothing but rain. While we may have not gotten into the pool we still had a great time celebrating the mama to be. As an added benefit that meant just more time to sit inside and eat potato salad. Winning.

Next up, the husbands birthday. I put this photo on Instagram with the caption: "For my birthday I'm all "I WANT CONCERTS! AND TRIPS! AND DAYS AT THE SPA! AND REALLY FANCY DINNERS!" When I asked @schradebomb what he wanted for his birthday today he responded with "I just want a bowl of cereal and then shovel up mulch into the trailer.." Happy 31st to the man who continues to teach me that life alone is good enough, no glitz and glamour necessary. Fortunately I still figured out a way to put a little sparkle on that cereal."

It's so true though - he is such a simple man and I could definitely learn a few things from him in this regard. In the words of Zac Brown Band - "I got everything I need and nothing that I don't.." amen bro.

Last but not least, my grandpa got married yesterday!

Years ago when my grandma passed away it never occured to me that he may meet somebody and get married at his young age of 80 something or another. However I love the reminder that no matter the age, we are all the same. We want to love and be loved. This couple is no exception. It was so fun to celebrate these two and feel their excitement for their new life together. Shawn and I were given the lemonade duty and not to brag or anything, we rocked that job like no other. If anybody is looking to hire I've got ya covered.

And because no weekend is complete without a little boating time....

Hope you all had a great couple of days as well. IT'S ALMOST THE 4TH - HOLLLLLER.

ps. that tank up above is deliciously soft and wonderful. I am somewhat obsessed with all things Printed Palette and just thought you should know ;)

Stitch Fix Review #36 // Summer Style

And here we are again. Another month, another Stitch Fix reveal. Being that this is #36 it shouldn't come as a shocker to you that I love showing off what I received in my box [it always just sounds so dirty]. I've come to the realization that I [almost] get more excited about the notes from my stylist (Hi Layla! xo) than I do the clothing. It's so awesome to me that I have developed this fun little friendship with a stylist over the past couple of years through the avenue of clothing. As always, she sent me items that I absolutely love and that are perfect for Summer. I always tell her I love simple things but with fun detail - bold colors - work appropriate dresses - and fun things to wear out to dinner! Before showing off this fix, here's a few items to note:

If you see anything that you like below, feel free to pin away and/or ask your stylist in the notes section of your next fix for something similar!

Also, if you are not familiar with Stitch Fix and how it works, let me break it down for you in 3 quick points:

1. Start by filling out your style profile - you will complete all sorts of questions on sizing, pricing, preferences, colors, etc. You can also write notes about likes/dislikes. Make sure to link your fashion board on Pinterest so your stylist can see what you like!

2. Order your first fix! Your card will be charged a $20 styling fee however, if you keep any item [one or more] you will be credited back the $20. Because of this I always recommend keeping at least one item or you are essentially giving away $20 for nothing in return. You will receive 5 items [made up of clothing, jewelry, and handbags]. I personally only want clothing in my fix so I just always let my stylist know!

3. Decide what you want and what you want to send back [in a postage paid envelope]! You have 3 business days to do so - use this time to try everything on, see what you have in your closet that pairs well with it and don't be afraid to yes to something that you wouldn't normally. That's what makes Stitch Fix so fun!

It should be noted that while I have chosen to receive monthly fixes, this is in no way a subscription service and you are able to decide when you want another fix, whether that be in 6 months or 2 years from your first fix! As always, if you ever have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments section below. I know some are curious on the pricing, All of the items you see below were less than $80 with several in the $50 range.

Alright, lets get started with this months fix!

1. Skies Are Blue - Gwen Crochet Detail Top [kept]
earrings: nickel and suede [size medium] // shorts // sandals

Yes yes and yes. I am a white junkie. Combine that airy look with this crochet detail and we've got ourselves a winner folks. Also perfect for Summer country concerts if I don't say so myself..

2. Pixley - June Polka Dot Skirt [kept]

So here's the thing with this one. I pulled it out of the box and first thought that it was going to be sent right back. I wasn't sure I would have anything in my closet that would pair well with it. Low and behold I found this little top and I loved it. I wore this entire outfit to work on Monday and got so many compliments on the skirt. It is perfectly fitted yet stretchy. Mama like .

3. Gilli - Shayne Maxi Dress [kept]
necklace: crave jewelry

For the twelve hundredth time, I love maxis. Like can't stop, won't stop. The back sold me on this one..I love how fun it is and the colors! Oh the colors. Also, if it looks like I dropped this dress in the shower when trying to steam it minutes before taking the pictures you would be exactly right. Yaaay for wet spots.

 4. Dear John - Finnegan Roll Cuff Chino Short [returned]

Oh how I loved these shorts. If only you could have felt how comfortable they were. However, I have a pair already almost identical to them so I couldn't justify keeping them. But the stripes! The nautical stripes! I'll miss you...

5. Loveappella - Zola Asymmetrical Dress [returned]

Looking back, I'm somewhat irate I sent this dress back. However, I think the pictures hide the fact that I am sucking in all sorts of body parts to the extreme. I adore this color and I love that this is work appropriate, however it was pretty clingy and didn't fare too well with my love handles and stomach when breathing. So back it went.

And that completes this month's fix -- which do you like the best?

Remember to give Stitch Fix a try for yourself! If you do, let me know how it goes! I always love hearing from readers who give it a go!

Poppin' Bottles In Honor of Summer

It's official party people -- Summer is here! With the kickoff of the longest day of the year happening yesterday a celebration was due. You see, we recently tore out an area of our yard to put in a firepit surrounded by adirondack chairs and tiki torches. A little oasis so to speak down by the water. And while it has been fun to look at, we had never used that space - until now. If you have been around this blog for any amount of time you should know that I love poppin' bottles. Somebody's birthday - pop a bottle. Somebody's buying a house - pop a bottle. Somebody's having a baby - pop a bottle. You get the point. Needless to say, the official arrival of Summer was definitely bottle poppin' worthy. And so that's what we did. I gathered up my favorite Gloria Ferrer bubbly, loaded up a little basket with all of the S'mores fixings (including the life changing ingredient, peanut butter) and headed down to our little fire oasis for an evening of Summer fun.

It was one of those great nights where we had spent all day out on the water, still in our bathing suits, no make-up on, the air was warm, our neighbors were playing the greatest music of all time in their garage next door, and we had nothing else on our agenda but to sip our sparkling wine and eat our chocolate peanut butter s'mores until our hearts were content. Which for me takes a lot. Working on that one...

I love Gloria Ferrer wines not just for the flavor (don't take my word for it - their wines have earned over 400 gold medals and 50 90+ scores in the last 5 years) but because of its social sparkabilities. I may have just made up that word, but I love it so we are going with it. Gloria Ferrer wines are the perfect match for any occasion thanks to their elegant and fun look and flavor.

As an extra bit of Summer Fun, Gloria Ferrer is challenging you to post your best Summer pictures of you enjoying your GF bubbly. All you have to do is post your photo and use the hashtags #BeGloriousContest and #GloriousSummer for your chance to win a "Visit GF" souvenir package.
