Love, Yellow // Maxi Style

It's hard to believe that June is already here and another month of Love, Yellow is underway. To celebrate the arrival of both I am refusing to shower and do absolutely nothing productive except eat chips. So basically it's a typical Sunday around here. This weekend was full of friends and a heck of a lot of rain. If we look a little wet in the photos below, now you know why.

And now that I got that awkward sentence out of the way, it's time for more of this month's Love, Yellow reveal ;) As you know I try to wear nothing but maxi dresses in the Summer months. You get the benefits of looking cute while not having to shave your legs. win/win I say! And to triple [or quadruple] that win I made sure of two things when choosing which maxi I wanted for you all this round -- for starters, I chose a dress that a regular bra is acceptable. We all know my thoughts on strapless bras [straight from the devil] and secondly, underwear. I don't like wearing it. While this dress isn't lined on the bottom I still easily got away with going commando while having my ladies above my belly button. CAN LIFE GET ANY BETTER?

The black and white is totally classy [because obviously that's what is important to me if you couldn't tell from the last paragraph] and can be worn both day and night. To make it even fancier, we paired the dress with this lovely gold and black necklace.

Do we love it?

So there we have it. The two must have items of the Summer that you can now get your hands on. You lucky little ones you. All of the details are below but first, in case you forgot what it is that is up for sale this month, here you go -

So I've Got This Problem.

It all started out as an innocent trip to the grocery store. You see, this past weekend I was walking the aisles minding my own when all of a sudden out of the blue these dessert cups appeared in front of my eyes. The same dessert cups that you use for strawberry shortcake. It was in that moment that I remembered how good strawberry shortcake is and because these dessert cups were something like one whole dollar, I threw them in my cart.

And that was the moment my life changed forever.

A few tubs of cool whip, several quarts of strawberries and one gallon of vanilla ice cream later and I was set. Set to gain 1,000 pounds.

Because now guess what friends, I can't freaking stop eating strawberry shortcake. And it's not just like a little strawberry shortcake every night around 10 pm. It's enough to feed a football team. Except the only person I'm feeding it to is myself. Well that and my husband. I think he might have a slight problem addiction as well. I know this only because as we were eating dinner tonight around 6 he says "Do you think we could eat some strawberry shortcake now?" to which I replied "but that's what I do at 10!" and he says "No, I meant if we eat some right now we could also eat some later too..." Even my dog acts 50 shades of crazy when I start getting the ingredients out every night.

In case you need help remembering what season is upon us, it rhymes with kim boot. Shawn just rolled his eyes at that. Swimsuit season is what I am talking about. And you know what doesn't fare well with swimsuit season? Heaping bowls of all the calories combined with a mug full of coffee and Rumchata.

If this sounds like a desperate plea for help, it is. Somebody quick, please send help. Preferably in the means of dessert cups, ice cream, strawberries and whipped cream. I'm running low on the ingredients and need more immediately.

Stitch Fix Review // Fix #35

I never knew 35 to be such a lucky number but it turns out it is. Apparently by around number 26 your stylist starts sending you items that you simply can't say no to. And that's why God invented husbands. Stitch Fix as you know has been a staple in helping make my wardrobe awesome for the past few years and every month seems to get better and better. While I didn't keep all 5 items this month [see husband reference] I did love each item for different reasons. Don't worry, I still managed to walk away with 3 items that I am head over heels for.

Remember if you see anything that you like below, feel free to pin away and/or ask your stylist in the notes section of your next fix for something similar!

Also, if you are not familiar with Stitch Fix and how it works, let me break it down for you in 3 quick points:

1. Start by filling out your style profile - you will complete all sorts of questions on sizing, pricing, preferences, colors, etc. You can also write notes about likes/dislikes. Make sure to link your fashion board on Pinterest so your stylist can see what you like!

2. Order your first fix! Your card will be charged a $20 styling fee however, if you keep any item [one or more] you will be credited back the $20. Because of this I always recommend keeping at least one item or you are essentially giving away $20 for nothing in return. You will receive 5 items [made up of clothing, jewelry, and handbags]. I personally only want clothing in my fix so I just always let my stylist know!

3. Decide what you want and what you want to send back [in a postage paid envelope]! You have 3 business days to do so - use this time to try everything on, see what you have in your closet that pairs well with it and don't be afraid to yes to something that you wouldn't normally. That's what makes Stitch Fix so fun!

It should be noted that while I have chosen to receive monthly fixes, this is in no way a subscription service and you are able to decide when you want another fix, whether that be in 6 months or 2 years from your first fix! As always, if you ever have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments section below. I know some are curious on the pricing, All of the items you see below were less than $100 with several in the $50 range.

Alright, lets get started with this months fix!

1. 41Hawthorn Carla Crochet Detail Blouse - Small

This was an absolute yes for me as soon as I tried it on. The color is spot on and the crochet detail around the neck and sleeves gives it the perfect amount of fun that I am looking for in tops. I also love that this can be worn with jeans or dressed up for work.

2. Market & Spruce Persia Maxi Dress - Small

While we all know I am a sucker for maxi dresses, I had to say no to this one. Mostly because I am not a huge fan of this neckline on dresses. Because I have been blessed in the breast department [thanks mom!] I don't necessarily want something that draws even more attention to them [okay, well usually]. Other than that, I love the print and feel of this dress.

3. Skies are Blue Moraga Cut out Detail Blouse - Small

100% yes yes yes. I'm not sure which I love more - the color or the cut outs. I already know this is a top that I am going to have a hard time not wearing over and over again.

 4. LA MADE Ida Striped Shirt Dress - Small

Alright, so I was super excited when I saw this in my box because hello, red stripes. Anything nautical is a friend of mine. It is also the softest most comfortable dress you will have ever touched. However, this was at the top of the price range ($98) and I just couldn't do it. Gaaaaah, I miss it already. RIP red striped dress, mama misses you.

5. Daniel Rainn Vivienne Floral Print Sleeveless Blouse - Small

Ding ding ding, another winner. Normally I am not a huge floral fan but these colors sucked me in for Summer and I love the feminine flair it has. Needless to say, in my closet it went.

And that completes my 35th fix. Much love and thanks to my amazeballs stylist, Layla. Without her my wardrobe would be nothing.

Considering biting the Stitch Fix bullet? Dig in. You've got nothing to lose (besides a few dollars but can you really put a price on how you look ;) )

Which item was your favorite? Do tell.

Good For The Soul

This weekend couldn't have come at a better time. You know those times when you can tell you are running on E, feeling burnt out from the business of life and know that if you don't chill out soon things aren't going to go well [ie: you start crying while blow drying your hair for no reason at all]? I was almost to that point. Okay so maybe I was at that point [the blow dryer situation totally happened]. I have this "problem" so to speak that we are going to call "packed schedule syndrome". I like having my calendar full, saying yes to things and trying to get done as much as possible on a limited time frame. Needless to say, when I walked into this three day weekend without one plan actually made, I was estatic. We managed to do as much and as little as we wanted. It was the perfect amount of noise mixed with the perfect amount of quiet. We hosted friends and family on 3 different occasions, never woke up to an alarm, started a book, took the time to wash the windows [SAY WHAT?!], didn't open my laptop until tonight, ate a ridiculous amount of Summer food, sipped coffee for hours, remained makeup-less for 24 hours, had dirty feet every evening, went on more boat rides than I can count, grilled grilled and grilled some more, got my nails done, reflected on the true meaning of Memorial Day and how grateful I am for those who have served to protect our freedom, took a nap in the sun, created some crazy tan lines, drank several beers, and sat in peace and quiet feeling beyond grateful for this time to just be.

Here's a few [a lot] snapshots from the past few days.

And that pretty much sums it up -- that smile on my face, I don't plan on removing it any time soon.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend as well, xoxo.

I'm On A Boat

With Memorial Day quickly approaching, I am daydreaming about all things water. We have as close to zero plans as we possibly could, meaning all weekend will be spent in a bathing suit, no makeup and a drink in hand. My kind of weekend if I don't say so myself. This past weekend Shawn's side of the family came over for an afternoon out on the water which did not disappoint. I love being able to share my adoration of being on a boat with these little ones. Luckily enough I think they enjoy it as well.

After taking her picture I asked "where in the world did you learn that pose?!" and she responds "from you!"
I have absolutely no idea what she is talking about.

At least she is learning young friends.

It's so fun to see my nieces and nephew excitement to head out on the water, watch them dance in the middle of the boat as music plays and then cuddle up right next to us to let the wind hit their faces as we all relax together. I hope they never stop loving this.

Because my love runs deep for all things boating, I am loving what Discover Boating is setting out to do.
Discover Boating is a national program to help people get on the water to experience the fun of boating. For those looking to get their feet wet, Discover Boating is an unbiased online resource packed with easy, interactive features on all things boating, including  a boat selector guide, cost comparison tool, renting options, youth boating programs, education courses – even nautical lingo and how-to videos. Plus, Discover Boating offers tools and information for experienced boaters looking to learn more.

That's right - you can check out their boat selector tool which will help you narrow down your choices to the exact one that's right for you. I would then send whichever boat you end up with to your significant other with a giant wink face. You never know the power of a wink face ;)

While on the topic of boating and hot guys [okay wait, I just added in that part] make sure you check out the Stories of Discovery to see what my dearly beloved Jake Owen has to say about boating and why he loves it so much. I've only watched it like 12 times.

Anybody else out a fish in a human's body? What are you waiting for - get out there and boat.

Your paradise awaits.

Staying Pure...In The Bedroom And Beyond.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Holmes® Smart Air Purifier. All opinions are 100% mine.

I am so excited to share with you all a fabulous new piece of technology we have been using in our home lately. You see, Shawn and I are allergy sufferers. I believe this to be true with every other Indiana resident as most people I talk to have runny noses, coughs, or watery eyes. We are a good looking bunch in this great state ;) Because Spring is the most awful time of year for us allergy prone folk, we will try anything to relieve our pains. Fortunately, we got our hands on a Holmes® Smart Air Purifier and our home [and sinuses] have never felt better.

I'm going to be honest and say I had absolutely no idea what an air purifier was before finding this product. Before I type out all sorts of fun facts about what this is and why you need one [because lets face it, you do] watch this short little video clip where I try to not be the Queen of awkward when discussing this fabulous product.

Alright so good, we survived. As you heard, the true HEPA air filters in this bad boy kills 99.97% of airborn allergens including pollen, dust, dust mite debris, mold spre, pet dander, and smoke/odor. I know I have mentioned on here before how much of a stickler I am for a good smelling home and finally, I can breathe a deep sigh of relief knowing that my house is so fresh and so clean clean.

As I also mentioned, not only is the purifier awesome for those of you who suffer from allergies, asthma, pet owners, or families with young children  - it is also great for you techy people. Holmes has partnered with WeMo to allow you to have full control over the quality of your air no matter where you are. With any smart device you can connect to the free WeMo app and turn on/off your air purifier, control the settings, check your air quality and find out if you are in need of any replacement filters.

WeMo is encouraging "WeMoments" which is the feeling of relief in being able to adjust your technology to better your life. Do you know how great it is being notified of when the air quality in our home isn't good and in the comfort of wherever I may be I can change that? All of the heart eyes right there.

Because I truly love this product so much and because Holmes wants more of you to be able to experience pure air, we are giving away one Holmes® Smart Air Purifier to one of you! [lucky!] All you have to do is leave a comment sharing your own "WeMoment" below. The giveaway winner will be selected on May 29th - winner must be 18 years of age and a US resident. Good luck! I'm off to bask in the glow of our purified bedroom.
