I am here today to make it known that when I say I have absolutely NO idea how to do my hair any way but straight and down, I am not lying. I am the epitome of a hair idiot. Messy buns? Fishtail braids? Beachy waves? Excuse me, but no. One look at those curling wand things and my insides start to tremble. Heck, bobby pins even intimidate me.
The morning after Christmas I was getting ready and I thought about the fact that New Years Eve is right around the corner and while we will most likely end up on a couch somewhere, the thought of getting fancy crossed my mind. You see, a few weeks ago I started using Living Proof hair products and because I am loving them more than chicken fried rice from my favorite Chinese joint [more on my passionate love in a later post], I thought I would put a few of these products to use and see what I could come up with.
Because I realized I didn't necessarily need all of these for a ponytail, I narrowed it down to three. Everything in moderation people.
Satin hair serum [because it's amazing], Straight heat activated spray and flex shaping hairspray for the win. If only I would have purchased the Instant Texture Mist [insert me kicking myself in the shins now] I could have maybe figured out something a little more "wow" than a ponytail, but hey - 2016 goals.
One squirt of the hair serum to get it all nice and shiny and a few massages into my scalp and I was on my way...
Next up, a few sprays of the straight heat activated spray and it was time to get down with my straightening self.
Here's where it gets exciting - for those of you other hair idiots out there, there is this thing called "teasing" and no it has nothing to do with flirting and not following up on your suggestive comments. Go grab your husband's comb, take sections from the crown of your hair and comb up and down rapidly. Repeat. You will think that you are turning your hair into a birds nest and you would be exactly right, you are.
Once you have a giant puff ball sitting atop your head, gently brush over that madness to smooth it all and then very skillfully pull your hair back into a low ponytail. Because we need that masterpiece to stay in place, spray that sucker with hairspray like it's your job [don't worry, it smells delicious so you'll be fine] and waaaaaaa-la. A ponytail with a little bit of oomph to it.
Life changing and totally pin worthy, I know. Thanks to Living Proof I can now do these incredible things. Also, thanks to TJ Maxx I now have a lace dress for less than $20. Miracles people, they are happening.
