Master Bath Reveal // Before & After

August 19, 2015

By:

It dawned on me last night that I have yet to reveal the complete master bathroom renovations that consumed much of the first part of this year. As chaotic as that time period felt – moving in with my parents for a few weeks, not sleeping on a regular mattress, having dust EVERY FREAKING WHERE in our house, I almost miss it. Chaos keeps life interesting and it’s probably good for me to learn how to do things like clean every once in awhile. You may remember the partial reveal of this space from March but it’s time to show it off in its full glory now that it has the fancy things like a shower door, lighting and cabinet hardware. It’s the little things in life, ya know?

Before we dive in to the after pictures, it only seems right to share what this bathroom looked like before. It was a tiny little bathroom with a single sink, shower, and barely space to tend to your business if you know what I mean. Yes, I meant poop. Continue on.

You can now understand why we wanted to change it up a little. After moving one of the walls to make this space a little larger here is what we came up with…

We’ll start with the vanity area – we really wanted to have double sinks so that it wasn’t a punching match every evening when it came to who would be able to brush their teeth first. We worked with the same company [Design Studio for those of you who are local] that we did for our kitchen. In fact, we went with the same exact cabinets and hardware because we loved them so much. Because our house is lacking storage space like no other, I try to find ways to add more as we go. By adding in the cabinets up to the ceiling it did just that. The bottom one opens towards my sink and the top opens towards Shawn’s sink. We love the added space for all of our lotions, face washes, etc.
We have become huge fans of quartz stone after finishing our kitchen so we chose that for the countertops and I couldn’t love it more.
Now, for the lights – it took Shawn a little convincing when I informed him that I wanted hanging lights over our mirrors instead of the standard mounted lights. Fortunately our design of the vanity made it so that we had to go with hanging lights and we both love the added dimension it adds to the space. I found these babies at Lowes [for cheap!]
We did add in deep drawers in the base of the vanity for those larger items [think blow dryers, hair straighteners, boxes of tampons, the usual..] Shawn decided to get all genius on me and had an electrical outlet installed in his drawer so that none of his razors and such have to sit on the counter to be charged. I love having this as it allows for our counters to stay clutter free! Totally recommend this to anybody.
As far as the faucets go, we went with this spa looking thing – they are Delta however I can’t remember where we purchased them from for the life of me.

And now, onto my favorite part – the shower! We chose all tile and I had the idea of making the back wall feel a little bit like a waterfall, or at least the colors of water. I wanted this space to feel as spa-ish as possible. It broke up the floor and side wall tile and I love the statement it makes when you walk into the bathroom.

On the floor we went with a river rock and darker grout for easier care. I don’t love how the darker grout looks as white is my jam, but there is no way we could keep white clean in this space so dark it was.
Just to confirm that yes, we do have a toilet in this space – here you go. Exciting stuff.
And just a few other personal touches…
Other items to note – the paint color is Sherwin Williams “On The Rocks” and that amazefest shower panel is from Amazon. It has four functions – rainfall, waterfall, body spray, and a handheld sprayer. To see it live and in action click here.
And that my friends, completes the master bathroom tour. Interested in checking out the other bathroom renovation? Enjoy the guest bathroom before and after here.
