Break Up with Your Makeup

August 3, 2015

It should come as no surprise around here that makeup and I get along quite well. So well that we used to never leave home without each other. If my face wasn’t covered in liquid and powder foundation, it would consistently be a strong “no” when it came to leaving the house. I have always been a little ashamed of my “au natural” look and would do everything in my power to disguise the real me by hiding it under piles and piles of makeup. Fortunately as I have gotten older [and a little wiser along with a wee bit more confident] I have learned what it means to not only take care of your face, but to also embrace your face. We are beautiful as-is. While Summer is a great time to bare it all, there are things that we can do every day to feel confident enough to “go naked” year round.

Lets face it (pun intended) – if we aren’t taking care of our base, how can we look good no matter what we put on our face? Here’s what works for me:

  1. A brightening toner – after removing all traces of makeup I turn to a brightening toner to bring my face to life so to speak. This also gives me confidence that I really do have all makeup removed and can move on to my favorite step.
  2. Moisturizer with SPF – Always, always, always moisturize. Even if you have oily skin, moisturize. I choose a moisturizer with SPF to guard against any rays that I may catch during the day. Who doesn’t need sun spots in her life? This girl.
  1. Wrinkle Cream – Lets face it, we aren’t getting any younger. I use a wrinkle cream every night all over my face in hopes to keep those lines at bay.
  2. Eye Cream – And last but not least, eye cream. My eyes are one of my greatest assets and I’ll do whatever I can to make them as bright as can be. I put a very small amount all around my eyes to diminish any puffiness or darkness that may appear.

And there we have it – 4 simple yet highly effective ways to great skin.

In honor of breaking up with my makeup, I have partnered with Galderma for the Break Up with Your Makeup program.
While I haven’t personally dealt with rosacea in my own life, I have friends who have had to manage it over the years. For those of you who struggle with rosacea, Galderma is here to help with one of their three prescription treatment products. One product specifically I would like to share with you all is Oracea® (doxycycline, USP) Capsules 40mg which help treat the inflammatory lesions of rosacea in adults.

To learn more about rosacea and other treatments offered by Galderma simply visit the Break Up with Your Makeup page. While you are there, enter the sweepstakes for your chance to win one of three $500 gift cards by simply voting for your favorite no-makeup selfie and story.
