2015: The Year Of The Booty

Well, we have exactly one day to figure out how we are going to get in the best shape of our lives in 2015. I don't know about you but I have done anything but good for my body recently. You see, I bought this automatic candy dispenser for Shawn for Christmas that was supposed to reside on his desk. I also bought a giant bag of Wildberry Skittles to start the candy dispenser out on a strong foot. Long story short, he thought it looked cool in our kitchen so the kitchen is where it sits. Because of this, I now eat a handful of skittles every time I am in the kitchen which is always. So there we have it. I am always eating skittles. I keep telling my brain that as soon as 2015 is here I won't be tempted to eat them because that seems logical and all. I guess I also decided I should start working out or something. Fortunately, my Instagram feed told me who to turn to.

That would be Jess, from Glisten Fit. The brunette bombshell with a rockin' bod that is always jumping all over the place. I promise I like men but I also promise I love her butt.

You see, mine looks nothing like that....and don't get me started on her abs, arms, or anything for that matter. When I asked about her blog / new business here is what she said:

And that's exactly what she does -- between her instagram workout challenge videos [seriously, check these out], free workouts every Friday on her blog, the e-book she is releasing soon that includes both a 7 day meal plan and 30 day workout plan [stay tuned], and her brand new business, HIIT Fusion Online Gym, she has you covered. So what's an online gym all about you ask? First, watch this.

For $13 a month you are able to workout every day with Jess in the comfort of your own home. You receive a weekly workout schedule along with one new video per week. The added bonus? Your man can do it with you -- it was created for husbands/wives and guys/girls to be able to workout together but both be challenged. She has a male with her in the videos that show the guys how to do their part! Interested? Sign up here

Jess is the real deal and I am so glad she has taken her personal training expertise to the internet. Today she is giving away one month of free HIIT membership to a lucky reader. Make sure to enter below.

Lets kick our butts into gear into 2015 -- peace out Skittles, it's been real.

Because, Why Not?

In case you weren't aware, a new year is right around the corner. I don't know if you are anything like me [my apologies if so] but I am the biggest resolution, mantra, goal junkie there is. With every turn of a new year, a mile long list appears in my planner of all of the things I want to do, see, accomplish, etc. Regardless of whether they end up happening or not, it's always fun to embrace the possibilities.

When I found out about Motorola's fully customizable smartphone, moto X, the wave of all the new year feelings flooded over me. As hinted at above, I have been on the hunt for what my motto for 2015 will be. And then the other day when my best friend say "because, why not?" after deciding to meet me to get my nails done and drink wine together in the middle of a weekday afternoon I knew that was it. So often people's first response to doing random/spontaneous/new/crazy things is "why?!' but for me -- I want to be more of a "because, why not?!" kind of girl. Take a hip hop class in 2015? Why not? Learn how to use my camera in manual mode? Why not? Leave my Christmas tree up until March? Why not? You get the picture.

Back to the moto X though and why this smartphone made my heart go pitter-patter. You can custom design this phone to every last liking. MotoMaker.com is the online studio where you can design your Moto X. You choose the colors, leather or wood and decide all the details: front, back, accents, memory storage, wallpapers, even add a name or a short message that is laser engraved on the back. Here are a few screenshots of what the design process looked like for me. It's so easy and fun, I wanted to design twelve billion of them.

First, picking out the back color.....

And from there choosing the trim color...lemon lime, why not?

Creating a custom greeting...I went with "be awesome today" because well, why not?

Here's my favorite part -- the custom engraving that you can do on the back of the phone. With my mantra in mind, I wrote the obvious....

Here are a few other things to note about this phone:

The new Moto X raises the bar in design with a perfectly-sized 5.2-inch HD display and a curved frame that fits comfortably into your hand.

It lets you do more using only your voice, working with favorite apps like Facebook, Twitter, Google Play Music and Pandora. It’s aware of where you are--in the car, in a meeting or going to sleep--and adjusts to your preferences accordingly.

You can even name it whatever you want and ask it questions “Wake up, Shirley… what’s the weather?”

The camera makes sure you capture every can’t-miss moment, even at the most dimly lit holiday / New Year’s Eve parties.

The Best Shot feature takes several photos before and after you snap the picture and identifies your optimal shot.

It even knows if you’ve taken several pictures at a party or on vacation, and will organize them into a highlight reel with options for music and special effects.

The new Moto X is everything you want in a premium smartphone without the premium price. It is available for $99 with a two-year contract and $499 without a contract. Add $25 for the wood or leather backs.

What are you waiting for? Get to designing your phone now and let me know in the comments below what your motto, word, or goals are for 2015.

Four Christmases

And as of about two hours ago, Christmas 2014 is completely over for us. This year we opted to be like Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon and have four Christmases. Unfortunately for us however we didn't have a satellite dish go through the roof, a baby didn't spit up all over me, no older women hit on Shawn [that I know of], and we didn't have to have the conversation on whether or not we want to have kids in the near future. Instead we hosted two sides of the family on Christmas Eve [one family for lunch, the other family for dinner with approximately 25 minutes in between the two], celebrated my nephew and mother-in-laws birthday, served lunch on Christmas Day at a local church, gathered in my aunt's barn for another gathering, and finished out at my sister's new home this evening. It has been a great indulgent week and my stomach/thighs can prove it. Remind me next year that just because there are boxes of chocolate sitting around, party mix to feed the entire world, and leftover mashed potatoes oozing out of my refrigerator doesn't mean I have to take full responsibility to polish off every one. Holy calories 2014.

Because I want to make sure I can look back on this Christmas, allow me to place one too many photos of our week below. Scroll at your own discretion. If you find yourself scrolling in one hour from now you may want to find the nearest exit and make your way out. And if you don't feel the need to exit, well I apologize for how boring your day must be.

Hope you all had a wonderful time with your family and friends the past few days.

Merry everything.
