The First Official Home Remodeling Photos

August 13, 2014

By:

I figured it’s about time to show off a few “before” photos of the house we are currently tearing apart and putting back together along with a few “nowhere near done but slightly closer to where we were in the before” photos. I apologize in advance of the quality of some of these photos. Some things you just can’t make look pretty no matter how hard you try…
To begin with, this is what was the kitchen and dining room area. You will notice there is a wall in between the two which makes each space rather small and not so awesome. There was also a nice [read: awful] configuration of cabinets which made things all sorts of closed off.
To which I said to this entire area “the heck with ya..” and had some peeps come in and tear every single thing out. Go big or go home..I wasn’t ready to go home so I chose big. The wall in between the two got knocked down, the flooring all came up, the cabinets we said peace out to, and even that handsome refrigerator which is pictured below is now outta there.

Since the above photos were taken our flooring has gotten (almost) all installed so you can catch a glimpse of what that will look like below. I am already so thankful we decided to knock down that wall to open up the space. I am totally digging the giant windows as well. To be completed still: add baseboard trim, paint all existing trim white, add board and batten on the dining room wall, paint all walls, remove and change out light fixtures, have all new cabinets and appliances installed, smack a 7 foot center island somewhere in there, and call it a day. Stay tuned party people.
Here is the living room from when we originally looked at the house. Don’t be fooled, we did view the house in 2014, not 1967 like it may appear. Not horrible, but not really my style if you catch my drift.

While I have hardly any pictures of the current state, the only things that have been done so far is the wood plank ceiling has been hung and the hardwood floors you saw up above have continued their way into this room as well. Oh and I bought a fun fan which will call this room home. Canned lights to be installed along with the walls and trim that still need to be painted. Oooooh yes, the ceiling–that baby will be white washed one of these days.

In the hallway, the only update currently is the flooring. Still need baseboard trim added and the remaining trim and walls to be painted. Have no fear, new light fixtures will be installed shortly here too.
This little half bath is going through quite the process right now. She got all of her pretty little flower wallpaper ripped out by yours truly, painted white bead board now stands about halfway up while the walls still needs painted above it. Throw in a new vanity and toilet while you’re at it and we should be about done.
The bedrooms have been mostly painted however I will save those for another day and time along with photos from the other living room and the other bathrooms. Instead, I’ll leave you with where the majority of the insides of the house have found their way…

Glamorous I know. Home remodeling is so just so much fun….said no one ever.
No, but really–so far so good. Onward soldiers. Or at least that’s what I keep having to remind myself every second of every day. #AREWEDONEYET
