Ahhhh...the ever so sweet blogging couples. If there is one thing that I wish from time to time it is that I could rely on Shawn to write my blog post for the day instead of me having to do it. To be able to just say "not feelin' it this week" and him say "TO THE RESCUE MY LOVE!" and then proceed to pump out quality content that gets pinned like a mother and shared on FB like crazy. I am a huge advocate of the high return for zero effort mentality. What I'm getting at is I've always been a little jealous of these couples who do this whole blogging thing together. It has to be a fun challenge and hello, you can both get free clothes, but geesh it also has to have it's fair share of challenges. Like what if one day I want to talk about my obsession with macaroni and cheese but he thinks we are better suited to tell your mom jokes? You can see where this would get confusing.
One of my favorite blogging couples is Kate and Adam from The Florkens. They are hilarious, down to earth, and smart people. I have been following along on their blogging journey since they have started and it has been so fun to see their success.
Today I'm interviewing the two of them so you can catch a glimpse inside this crazy blogger couples life. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! There is a 100% chance they are giving away some cash money at the bottom. Read on readettes.
1. Food is my ultimate love. If you could eat three things for the rest of your life what would they be?
Kate: We are both vegetarian but please don't let that fool you into thinking that we don't eat AH-mazing food! We do! I couldn't live without sweet potatoes, whole grain breads, and wine! Of course, if I ate only those things I'd be as big as a fricking house, so there's that...
Adam: Hummus. And kale. And carrots. And salsa. And soybeans. And rice. And black beans. And obviously I'm not very good at following instructions.
2. So you write a joint blog with your husband? Does that work well or is it as hard as I would think it would be?
Kate: For me, it is a HUGE treat! As an attorney, I often get caught up at work with long hours and sometimes have a mini panic attack around wondering what in the world will go up on the blog! That's usually when Adam can calmly say, "I've got this babe."
Adam: I get (typically) am on blog duty only about one day a week... And Kate always gets final say. So really it is pretty easy. I write. She reads. If she kicks it out, then I'm off the hook for the week! #score In all seriousness, yes. It's work. But we both enjoy doing it. Sometimes, we talk blog posts over dinner and brainstorm photos we need or dreams for this space. It has become a hobby for both of us and I can really dig that!
3. Hypothetically speaking, if you were to have a lavish giveaway in today's post where you buy all of my readers love and adoration, what would you give away?
Kate: Yeah, we've got a mortgage and my student loans so little chance of a "lavish" giveaway. If I could give away anything it would probably be a beach vacation. I know that Erin is lucky enough to be jetting to a beach like every other Thursday or something, but I'm pretty landlocked here in Arkansas! Still, at heart I am a sun, sand, drink in my hand type of gal. Sadly, I can't put your butt on a beach any more than I can mine ... as a consolidation prize I'll give you a shot at $50 Paypal cash. I suggest sticking it back for your own summer beach frollick!
4. Outside of blogging, how do you spend the majority of your time?
Adam: I'm a sucker for just being active. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good Netflix binge as much as the next guy (And I will talk your ear off about why you should ditch cable) but I love achieving my cross-fit goals, playing with our amazing dogs, and even convincing Kate to hit the hills of our new neighborhood with me.
5. I love hearing people's "why" behind their blog. Why did you begin writing and has that changed since you started?
I started blogging because I fell in love with blogs while studying for the bar exam last summer (including this one!). They were a little "escape" for me during a rather bleak period of my life. But now -- blogging is a way of life! I get so excited about coming to our little corner of the internet day after day. The focus of our blog has slightly shifted with time and I think it will continue to grow with us as a couple. I will never be just one "type" of blogger -- I think that we can successfully share it all!
Aren't they great? Make sure to check out The Florkens stat and get to know the two of them even better. But before you go, try your hand at winning $50. If you are lucky, you'll win. And if you aren't...well #loser.
