Home Inspiration. Also Known As Homespiration.

Ever since the purchase and sale of the lake cottage, I have been in full blown "I must make this room look prettier" mode. Recently we tackled Shawn's previous office turned guest bedroom, my office, and now I am ready to redo every remaining square inch of our house. It turns out that once I get an idea in my head I can't let it die, which is exactly why we are starting this project tomorrow. Picture with me if you will.....

All of this...

Turning into this...

Creams, mints, and corals. Just the way life should be. All of those brown walls you see up above will soon be transformed into much (much) lighter colors with pops of coral thrown in randomly. I am hoping to incorporate more "vintage" items compared to the big box store decor items we have currently. Recently we we were at an antique market and I found this gem of a gem. I knew I needed it only because I hugged it upon seeing it. I'm kinda loving how unperfectly perfect it is.

She is going to be serving as inspiration for the remainder of the home. Who wants to have their house look straight out of the 2000's when you can have the 1800's? Exactly.

Our kitchen is currently a nice mix of brown and the green you see up above.

Soon enough it'll be looking a little more like....

Well, not necessarily a bowl of lemons but you get the point. Mints, whites, and pops of yellow.

As for our bedroom, I don't want to repaint the entire room as I do like the color we currently have. My idea on this one is to simply change out the curtains/bedding/and some decor items. Allow me if you will.

The plan is to go from this...

to something more like this.

Last but not least is the guest bath. What currently looks like...

...will soon be covered with. Uhhhh. This is where you come into play. Here are the color combinations I am deciding between. Help a sister out and vote in the comments below. Please and thank you.

 1. pale yellow walls // navy accents
2. coral walls // pale yellow accents
3. light purple walls // white accents

And this completes my ideas. To be honest this post was just a giant reminder note of what I have decided to go with before I change my mind for the 1400th time. Thank you for allowing me to use you as a sticky note. Before and afters will be making it's way to a blog near you soon. Stay tuned.

ps. I know this has nothing to do with home decor but my blog has never been one to stay with one topic for the day. My girl Jacy just published an ebook on blog etiquette for new bloggers and I can tell you it is a must. It is packed full of things I wish I would've known as a newbie blogger. To top it all off it is only $2.99 so you really can't beat it. Get yo'selves a copy like yesterday

  6. I love the light purple and white but that's probably because that's what color my master bathroom is and I love it! I love all your other house ideas! If I'm not careful I'll be in the same situation you are and redecorating my entire house. After visiting the Portland Street of Dreams a couple weeks ago, I have been itching to redecorate!

  7. I'm digging Option #3 -- It seem very "classic". And since you are going to incorporate coral and yellow into the other rooms, I think it would be nice to see something a little different in the bathroom. Just my 2 cents!

  9. i say go with #2 - coral w yellow accents. This is because the guest bedroom is coral and you have yellow scattered throughout the rest of your home (or it will be once all your plans have been realized ;) ... It will help to tie in each room to a cohesive overall home theme - this gives you two huge bonuses. A) your home is united and doesn't feel like you're playing a horror house where each room is a new 'scene' and 2) it allows variety within each room while still giving you a key theme (vintage and light) with accent pieces that can be moved from room to room (more versatile) because the rooms tie into each other without being one boring blob! Amazeballs work lady!!!! xx I can't wait to see the final reveal :)

  11. Your unperfectly perfect antique market find is beautiful! As is the rest of your homespiration :) I like the light purple/white accents for the guest bathroom. Can't wait to see the finished products!

& thank you for linking the ebook - I'm a new blogger and can use all the help I can get!

  14. I would do the pale yellow with navy, or really if I had my way with it, I would do a pale yellow, white and a light almost white sage green.

  15. My boyfriend and I are in the process of doing some renov's to our house... It's so much fun finding great ideas on Pinterest, but holy cow it's a pain in the butt to actually do them! Maybe that or I'm just lazy... the jury's still out.

  16. Purple...we just don't use enough purple these days!!!

  17. I had a light yellow with navy trim bedroom when I grew out of the bubble gum pink stage. I loved that combination and still do.

  18. I Like #2. The colors will go with your existing oak trim/cabinets unless your plan is to change those out as well? Good luck, can't wait to see your after pics!

  19. Pale yellow and navy (1) are my two favorite colors together. I just did my master in navy and white and was searching for a third color. Yep! yellow it is! Good luck!

  24. For the bathroom, I'm definitely feeling either #1 of #3!

  25. I'm digging 3 for the bathroom because you have similar colors to the other color options in other rooms in the house. Does that even make sense? So go for something different and light in the bathroom. I'm in the same spot at you. We did one room and now I'm branching out all over. Next up, my living room. Then our bedroom- cocoa colored walls be gone!

  26. Love all your ideas! I am particularly obsessed with the mint & yellow accents for the kitchen! This post is making me want to renovate more rooms in my house - again... I am sure my husband would just loooove that.
Guest bath -- I love the lavender with white accents choice. You could bring in a little grey (for a warm feel) you can use like a brownish grey. That would be lovely!
I have so many ideas - maybe we need to just start decorating new spaces with all our ideas? HGtv????

  28. Digging the purple and white but that can get cheesy in a hot minute, so with all of your other color choices I would go with the yellow and navy. Very cute for the style house you're going for. Can't wait to see the finished rooms!

  29. Oh PLEASE do your bathroom in light purple! That's what mine is and I need some inspiration! I just DON'T have an eye for design at ALL.

  30. How do you stay motivated? We stopped decorating and didn't ever start up again. We got the house in 2010 and then it was go go go and then we stopped. I guess I've settled in. Really settled in! I love our house and there are definitely white walls and other things that could be done but I just don't wanna!!

  36. I love all these ideas and can't wait until you share pictures of the final products! I love the yellow/navy combo if you are going for colors that compliment the other house colors. Otherwise I think the purples are the most "so fresh and so clean" colors for the bathroom!
