Fifteen Minutes Through A Camera Lens

I knew this was bound to happen soon.
The past few days I've had a couple different people ask me "how do you always have something to write about every night?!?!" and I respond with the same stupid answer "I don't know--I just do!"

And then tonight rolled around and well, I've got nothin'.
I became so desperate for a topic that I asked my husband to just say a word and I would write about that.
He said anteaters.
Well frick. I don't know what an anteater is so that idea didn't pan out like I originally hoped.
I then started writing a post on "why men are better than women" and then decided today was not the day I felt like putting myself out there for others to murder me. We will save that for tomorrow perhaps.

Regardless, you know what I do in these suck ball situations?
I grab my camera and I just start shootin'. It sounds a lot more hardcore than what it actually is, but whatever. Which reminds me, on my way to work this morning I decided that I am either 100% country or 100% gangsta. There is no in between really. I'm not sure if you needed to know this right now but it's just top of mind so hey, as any blogger says--write about it.

Oh I know. I came up with this theory today on my afternoon off. My theory is this: If my husband comes home to a sparkling clean house, dishes all washed, laundry done, and a glamorous meal prepared for him he will start to believe that this is the lifestyle he wants. The lifestyle where his wife doesn't necessarily work full-time outside the home but rather sits in the sun for four hours and then scrounges around for one hour getting everything put together for his arrival. It was a great thought, however when he walked in the door I presented him with the appetizer and he hated it. You know that feeling in your stomach when all of your hopes and dreams shatter right in front of you. It was like that.
Thank goodness the dessert pulled through in the clutch.

All this to say, I will be at work tomorrow. And every day there after.

And now to the point of the post. Pictures. All shot within the last fifteen minutes.

Well if that wasn't exciting I don't know what is.
My brain shall return tomorrow.

  1. Still a great post, even for not knowing a damn thing about anteaters and not knowing what to write about! I love that you're so honest and admitted that you just didn't know today. Cute pictures! That dessert looks delicious!

  3. I've written about pretzel salad too, so I know this writers block well;) It's way too many steps for one recipe but its delish! Do you shoot your pics in manual? I realize all your subjects weren't living/moving things but they're really focused and crisp. They look great!

  5. It may have been a reach, and full of random thoughts, but I still sat here and read it, and chuckled, and am still a fan of your writing - even when it is much ado about nuthin'. :)

  7. This is exactly what I did for a post tonight... Looked at my roommate and went "well, I don't have a post written. I guess I'll just go take some pictures and post those!"

  9. I love your posts. And I have an idea for your next one that you are stumped for. You can write a post about what camera and lens you use as well as how/what program you edit your pictures with. I am sure it will be riveting (at least for us fellow bloggers and picture takers)!

  15. As a teacher, I have the same thought every summer. If I cook and clean maybe my husband won't make me go back to work in the fall. Hasn't worked so far, luckly I have a year of maternity leave next year to perfect this... I'll let you know how it goes :)

  19. Ha! Laughing as usual! You're definitely Gansta!!! Totally amazing pictures! Maybe you should just become a professional, stay-at-home photographer?! I know you could pull it off! My trick to becoming a stay-at-home, kept woman was that I was in an amazing mood and had dinner on the table every night for a week when I was off work for some crazy reason. He bought it. Of course, I've now returned to the horrible witch I really am. Dinner is still generally on the table every night.

  26. I really love this idea! The pictures turned out great and maybe it wouldn't be this way for everyone because I'm pretty sure what makes yours so great is the fact that you have style lol, but I loved how this turned out!! Makes me want to see what kind of pictures I could come up with in 15 minutes... :)

  27. The Barefoot Refresh is my favorite right now!! So much so that I bought 3 cases. And I agree...mine didn't marry June Cleaver, so while I finally empty the dishwasher after thinking about it for two hours, he better whip out that vacuum and get crackin! ;)

  30. My first day here, and I just really enjoyed your sense of humor, style, and self! It kept my interest to the end, and I don't intend to fix the dessert for my husband!!! Lol! The pictures were awesome. At first I wondered what I was seeing, and then I see the lawn furniture further down. Good job!

I read and appreciate every one of your comments. Thanks for stopping by my space and sharing a piece of yourself on this huge ole internet. I meant that in the least creepy way possible. I'm just good at making everything awkward. Anyhow, thank you for your comments. They make me smile :)
