There is one subject that I very rarely talk about on here and that subject is...
wine.
Psych. Let's be real.
No, what I am referring to is all of this fun stuff...
Body image. Healthy eating. Working out. Feeling good. Looking good.
I would say "for whatever reason it's just something that I don't talk much about..." but it's more like
"I never talk about it because I feel like I have nothing of worth to share. It's not something that I place much importance on. And maybe it bothers me that I don't think about it (or care) as much as I should. So what if I don't actually like hearing every other day that I am the world's worst eater and so instead of addressing it, I make jokes about how I could really go for some fried chicken and a box of macaroni and cheese? And maybe, just maybe--I really don't want to seriously stop and think about what harm I am actually causing my body.."
Yeah, I'd say it's probably like the latter of the two.
typical. and pathetic. but typical.
You see..I've fallen into that "fortunate" department. Other than the time I just started dating my now husband and gained 20+ pounds from drinking Sprite with him in high school (true story), I have never had to think much about my weight. However, because I may "look" fortunate (that sounds weird and really not how I mean for it to sound..) I don't usually "feel" fortunate in the health department. And I hate it.
I hate that my typical lunch consists of whatever fast food I can get my hands on the quickest. I hate that I get out of breath from going up a single flight of stairs. I hate that I used to notice muscle on my legs and arms and now I have to squint my eyes and flex with all that I can to see a wee bit of definition. And you know what else I dislike? I don't like when I don't feel sexy. I want my sexy back dangit.
because acting like a bird is the new sexy.
Here's the catch side to all of that.
I don't necessarily want to put in lots of time preparing the healthiest of meals, shopping at those expensive "all natural" stores or whatever you call them (can you tell I've never been?), and spending 90+ minutes a night wishing somebody would kill me while I jump up and down to some instructor yelling at me through the TV screen. Instead, I'd rather sit my butt behind the computer and blog, thank you very much.
All this to say that when I was given the chance to review some products for Diet-to-Go, I thought to myself "Self. This is exactly what you've been looking for. Healthy food, already prepared! Wait what?! And it will be delivered to my doorstep meaning I don't have to run around like a maniac at the grocery store during my lunch hour?! Yesssssss." Yup, that's what I thought. So I did it. And wham bam thank you ma'm...I am so glad that I did. I had never experienced any diet delivery programs, but here is the first thing that I noticed about my meals upon their arrival.
Ingredients that I actually knew how to pronounce!
It was magical really.
You know what real ingredients mean don't you? Refrigeration!
Do you know how nice it is to not prepare a meal from jars/boxes that have been sitting in your pantry for months and when you pull them out you think to yourself "how is it that these green beans can really be fresh when they have been sitting here soaking in Lord knows what for the past three years?"
Again, magical really.
But the second (and hello..most important) thing I noticed...the taste.
Hands down the best chili and cornbread I've ever tasted. I am not kidding when I say the best. Holy good.
This was my man's favorite. "Oh sure hunny, you want me to whip you up some mushroom ravioli covered in a delectable tomato sauce paired with fresh vegetables?! Absolutely!" He totally fell for it.
This was another of Shawn's favorite (apparently he isn't used to fancy gourmet healthy meals in these parts..what?)
Needless to say, between the perfectly sized portions, amazeball taste, and the extreme convenience factor,
I am sold. No more hours in the kitchen preparing a mediocre meal at best (that happens to be ladden with fat and all that other goodness). The best part? Since I started eating better, I actually want to do my body a little better...insert mile and a half run + weight lifting session tonight.
Welcome back sexiness. I have a feeling I'll be seeing you soon ;)
So there's my answer to all of you in the same boat I am.
You want to feel better, potentially look better, and cut down on the time it takes to do both?
And boom goes the dynamite.
Fortunately for you and your new years resolutions,
Diet-to-Go is rewarding you all with
20% off your meal plan (
check out available meal plans here..I chose traditional) using the code
JAN20PERCENT (offer valid through January 31 so hurry your buns). This is a pretty sweet deal considering they are the most inexpensive fresh
diet delivery source on the market already. Winning.
If so, what did you think?
Also..please if any of you have questions about Diet-to-Go and my experience (what other meals I got, how to store meals, etc) please make sure to ask in the comment section below so I can answer them directly back (in the comments).
Cheers to a better you, a better me, and a better us.
Now where's my wine?
**Also be sure to check out Diet-to-Go on
Facebook and
Twitter for future offers and news**
This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™, but all my opinions are
my own

That's some serious portion control too! The meals look good but I'd immediately want seconds! Have fun with your run and free weights...keep it up! And if anyone can make a "bird look" look sexy, it's you...
ReplyDeleteHonestly--both my husband and I were so full after eating our meals. And trust me, I eat a LOT. I was pleasantly surprised :)
Deletebut thanks about the sexy bird look. now I just need feathers.

ReplyDeleteGood for you for taking better care of yourself! I have to say I'm surprised how yummy the food looks.
ReplyDeleteWhile you're at it, preparing for a healthier you, stop tanning! :-) (Sorry, I had to...)
*At least get checked once a year for suspicious areas...After a few years of tanning, I caught my melanoma after it had spread. I was 23.
XO,
A melanoma warrior.
such good advice lady---so happy you caught it and use your voice for a purpose. Taking notes now.. ;)

ReplyDeleteI'm with you Erin! My goal for 2013 is to become "Comfortable in my own skin." It's weird though, it's been a week and I actually feel tons better- I'm trying to love every small milestone instead of wishing for the end result! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteTiffiney
right to the door step- thats my key to happiness right there.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds AWESOME! I might have to test it out :). Boyfriend and I have been on and off (mostly off) with a low-carb diet over the past month or so, but I can't get motivated to buy and cook the right stuff. This sounds like my dream come true.
ReplyDeletelooks great! but i find that prepping a few nights on sundays totally help with cutting down time in the kitchen during the week. we've been able to go to kickboxing each night and still eat a great healthy meal (tonight we had lemongrass chicken that was prepped in a big batch on sunday with garlic broccoli rabe that was sauteed tonight in about 10 minutes)
ReplyDeletecheers :)
I agree with Chelsea! :) That is all. We care about you!!!!

Looking into it, but says coupon code doesn't work?
ReplyDeleteIt's Jan20Percent no off haha ♥
ReplyDeleteI know "NewYear2013" was a code this week as well for 25% off, maybe try that?
DeleteSorry about that---go ahead and use JAN20PERCENT and that should work! Enjoy :)
DeleteI checked it out as well and the coupon code didn't work for me either
ReplyDeleteErin... Let's be real... Are you SURE they actually taste good? and like real food?
ReplyDeleteBeing real...YES. They are real food so of course it tastes like real food. I am not kidding when I said that chili and cornbread was some of the best I've ever tasted (and I am a very picky eater). My husband also loved every meal he ate. Not kidding around lady.
DeleteAwesome!! It really is hard to eat healthy constantly...There are WAY too many bad foods within reach everywhere. Oh and love the Scentsy warmer ;)
ReplyDeleteI have seen this plan before I am seriously considering doing it since I live alone and lets be real cooking for one is a PITA!
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting post to me. Coming from someone who needs to lose 60 + pounds I never really considered that someone who looks healthy on the outside could feel just as bad as I do. Very interesting!! thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool!
ReplyDeleteI hate cooking! Wonder if there is something like this in South Africa that doesn't cost an arm and leg???
You go girl!

ugh, I wish I could eat healthy without the "working out" part ands till be in shape. I started working out yesterday, I only lasted 7 minutes, and I feel like I got hit over and over with a mac truck!
ReplyDeleteI always forget that eating healthy is not just about looking good but feeding your body what it needs. This stuff does look decent (as opposed to other diets.)
ReplyDeleteDiet is 80% food and 20% exercise! Its all about what you put in to get a good output. Kudos to you for seeing this and wanting to feel better on the inside! These meals looks good and affordable, perhaps I'll try them.
ReplyDeletei kinda am tempted to do this, those meals look amazing!
ReplyDeleteMost of my life I've been one of those "fortunate" people. Although I've gained some weight as I've gotten older, I know it could be much worse. I'm happy for you though! Just takes one step in the right direction to make you feel better & healthy!!
ReplyDeleteShayna, I'm the same way! I've been steadily gaining weight the past few years though, and I'm on the way to being "skinny fat"!
DeleteDid anyone else think of The Notebook when Erin mentioned being a bird? You know she's in the bathing suite saying she's a bird, flapping her arms? No, okay, we'll you make a much better bird then Rachel did. The food looks so good! Glad that you are working on you and making you feel better about you, not what other people think you should look like.
ReplyDeleteIs the price weekly or monthly? I can't figure it out from their website.
ReplyDeletethe price is per the meal plan--I had a 5 day meal plan which consisted of lunch and dinner. You can select longer meal plans that also include breakfast! But yes, it is per "meal plan" if that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!
DeleteWell done! If I could get the husband on the bandwagon this would be a great thing just to have for those nights when I get home and don't want to mess with cooking for real.
ReplyDeleteI cook almost every night but our go-to easy meal is pizza, not exactly healthy.
Congrats in your quest to bring Sexy Back - but girl you already got it!
I need you to come to Florida and whoop my "fortunate" butt in shape because it's full of Bagel Bites and Chickfila but no one can really see it... but I can feeeeeel it.
ReplyDeleteAw I thought this was going to be such a great post until I got to the sponsored part. :(
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you feel this way however I will only review products that I feel are relevant and something that I am genuinely interested in. Regardless of the information about Diet-to-Go it, it is still a subject that is important to me. Every word in this post was written in the same matter all of my other posts are written (honest, from my heart/mind, etc). The "sponsored" part is an extension to my post so I hope you at least enjoyed some of it! Thanks for reading :)
DeleteYou pretty much just described my life. People always say that I'm lucky - but you're right - I want/need my sexy back. Unfortunately I think this involves some kind of exercise for me... so lazy though. I guess I just need to find something fun...
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are both such terrible eaters. But when we get home from work, we don't have the energy to stand there and cook for an hour. This might be the perfect solution for us!
ReplyDeletexo, Yi-chia
Always Maylee
That's exactly how I feel about my body. I've always had the "I eat whatever I want and don't think twice about because I'm not a whale...yet" but that doesn't mean it's not wreaking havoc on the inside. Healthy food is just too damn expensiveee!
ReplyDeleteI have never had to worry about my weight as well! I'm almost 23 years old. And now I kind of have to pay attention to what I eat. In high school I weighed a grand total of 102 pounds. Now I weigh a total of 114-116 pounds. I'm 5'5. I guess it's good for my height, but after being such a low weight in high school, now i'm like....*sigh*....but I think I did look slightly like a bobble head in high school. So maybe I just finally grew into my head?
ReplyDeleteMy motivation for eating health and working out (and by working out I mean taking walks...) is simply to feel good. I think wanting to do good things for your body because that is what it needs, is what it's all about. Luckily, you don't have weight to lose, so you really can focus on feeling awesome! You can do it! Also, if you ever want to talk about the wonders of coconut oil, I am here for you, sister.
ReplyDeleteOkay that food looks good but the portion sizes are so small! It's like airplane food. I know I'd still be starving if that was my dinner!
ReplyDeleteI've found that healthy food really fills you up quicker than bad for you food. I always get hungry quicker afterwards though. That's the really annoying part!
