Ten Questions

December 16, 2012

By:

Erin Schrader

The greatest thing about blogging in my personal opinion are the relationships that are formed.
Over the past few months I have had the honor of getting to know Casey better….oh how I love this woman.
Her heart…her brain…her passions…her love for her children and husband…her fashion…the girl is straight up admirable.
Anyhow, we thought it would be fun to come together and answer a few questions for our readers.
First up, you’ll read mine….right after that you will read Casey’s.
We are so very different in our writing styles (she is a huge writer of the heart– honest, open, raw, deep, loving…and well…I error more on the side of random, funny, light hearted, and again..random).
It is my hope you enjoy both sides of things.
If you don’t know Casey already—make sure you change that immediately.
Enjoy 🙂

1. When did you start blogging and why?
I started blogging on February 1, 2011. Indiana winters can be dreadfully long. After months of being on the couch by 6:30 pm, I had the bright idea to start a “hobby”. Because getting on a treadmill seemed like too much effort, I sat behind a computer and created this little space.
And oh how happy I am that I did. Blogging > Working Out. Any day 😉

2. What does your ideal outfit consist of?
Good question. I am a huge promoter of the cute+comfortable look. And no, I don’t think you have to compromise one or the other. I wear heels 98% of the time. I also wear jeans 98% of the time.
Fun top + Boyfriend Jeans + Heels = My outfit happy place.

3. What is one thing that you have learned in blogging that has really helped you grow?
The biggest thing that has helped me is to remember to stay true to myself. Each of us have our own unique voice. We have different stories to tell…different ways we all tell our stories. The minute you start getting caught up on trying to do “what everybody else” is doing, is the minute your blog will suffer. Write from your heart–your brain–your funny bones. Just be you.

4. You have one day all to yourself, what do you do?
Ideally I would be doing this…
But realistically speaking I would take at least three baths, make macaroni and cheese for all three meals, do some damage at Target, and work on blogging stuff. Oh, and help myself to a glass or three of wine.
It’d be thrilling really.
5. Favorite Christmas CD?
Jessica Simpson. She had me at Little Drummer Boy.

6. An event that has forever changed your life?
Cliche answer, but marrying this man.
I now have to do laundry on the reg.
I also have a permanent partner in crime to watch Giuliana and Bill with me.
One of the above I am pleased about 😉

7. Favorite social media site?
Instagram for sure. All of the perfectly sized little square pictures–glimpses into people’s everyday life. It gets me every time. Follow me @livinginyellow. I guarantee pictures of other people getting pulled over, my adorable nieces, and of course…the occasional self portrait.

8. If you go to a sporting event, name the food items you would get throughout the evening.
Easiest question ever. Nachos and cheese. Does anything else even exist?
9. Roller coasters- scared or awesome?
Just seeing the word makes me want to throw up. Scared.

10. And last but not least, I must know your true feelings about macaroni and cheese.
Let me just say this…if it was legal, I would marry it. I would insert this really attractive photo of me with my mouth full of mac and cheese now, but Casey may not want that masterpiece on her blog.
If you must, you can view it here.

Casey’s turn…starting now.

1. When did you start blogging and why?

Two years ago in January I was going through some messy stuff and I read this quote by Leslie “If you haven’t already gathered, or happen to be reading this blog for the first time in your life, I am a melancholy girl through and through. I find beauty in not only the beautiful things in life, but the bittersweet and sad as well. To me, there is something poignantly lovely about the human experience from its splendor to its grief. God created all our emotions, not just the happy ones, and for His good purposes. That’s why a good cry can feel so good. And hitting our limits forces us to look outside ourselves for a Savior. It is in the plea, when we’re at our end, that we can find that which is truly life-giving. Personally, my moments of deepest grief, deepest pain, have resulted in the most beautiful seasons in my heart. I’ve met God more intimately in those moments than in all the other pleasant ones combined. What isn’t completely lovely about that?” In a moment where I felt alone, I felt heartbroken, angry…..I read this and suddenly felt like someone out in the world possibly understood. So I started a journey. I wanted (and still do) this to be a blog/ a place of inspiration, uplift, joy…but also truth. Because life is hard. A lot of us have been through some seriously icky stuff. And so I wanted this also to be “real”. It’s easy to take beautiful family photos and pretend to have it all together-but who does that help?

 2. What does your ideal outfit consist of?
Ideal outfit: boots, skinny jeans and a comfy shirt. Headband and big purse.

3. What is one thing that you have learned in blogging that has really helped you grow?
It’s funny because I would have NEVER thought that blogging would make me better…but it has. It has inspired me. I dress better, I have more creativity pumping through my veins. I am a more purposeful mother. A better wife. Reading people’s stories and connecting with others truly has made me better.

 4. You have one day all to yourself, what do you do?
One day all to myself? I would head over to starbucks, laptop in hand- and would write. It’s pretty rare that I have time to just sit in the quiet and take some time to read and write so I would for sure take advantage of that!

 5. I must know your true feelings about macaroni and cheese.
 True Love.

 6. Favorite Christmas CD?
 Hotel Cafe/ Winter Songs.

 7. An event that has forever changed your life?
I have had a few but becoming a mom has forever changed my world. Forever changed my heart.

 8. Favorite social media site?
Instagram! @caseyleighwiegand (and I literally joined like a month ago)

 9. If you go to a sporting event, name the food items you would get throughout the evening.
Cotton candy, hot dog, dr pepper and an ice cream sandwich!
