Living The Dream

July 25, 2012

Good morning lovers.
So I was totally NOT planning on posting anything today…there is something about leaving the house at 7:45 am and not getting home until 11:00 pm two days in a row that will leave you with not much time to blog. Or sleep. Or do anything for that matter.
Thank God I still managed to eat….

Anyhow–this morning somewhere between the time I was celebrating the fact that I didn’t have anywhere on my face to apply concealer {whaaaaat??! this never happens..thank you Neutrogena Stress Control} and right after I was cursing my nose that was running{anybody else hate that? RIGHT after you put your foundation your nose runs and then you have to blow it…I tell you what}
I decided I had a post that I never shared with you all. Cheeeeeeers for unpublished blog posts!!!!!

That was half lie//half truth. I didn’t publish it on my blog, however I did publish it for Ellie over at Speak Now. So if you never read it over there, today is your lucky day. And if you did read it over there, just make yourself over here and choose a random post to read. Hopefully it will tickle your fancy.

Here we go…lazy blog approach starting……now:
I am so excited to be here today for Ellie and the Speak Now organization.
The amount of respect and admiration that I have for this girl is insurmountable.
Empowering girls to feel confident and beautiful in the world we live in now is so necessary.
Thank you Ellie for igniting this dream of yours and turning into something that will change lives.

I am here to share with you all a few things I have learned about loving yourself and pursuing your dreams. When Ellie approached me with this idea, I initially laughed and thought to myself “Ha..I wish I knew the key to living out my dreams..” And then I realized, you know what–maybe I am doing just that. Right here in this blog post you are reading.
Anyhow–here are my tid bits of knowledge on this subject.

1. Learn to laugh at yourself
This is a huge one for me when it comes to loving myself. Ladies, if I didn’t laugh at myself for all of my mishaps, short comings, mind slips, and everything else that happens in my life that I didn’t intend on happening–I would be one huge mess. A depressed mess that is. I think this life was meant to be humorous. Next time you trip and fall in front of somebody, pick yourself up–and laugh hysterically. Perhaps write a blog post about it even. You have great material at your fingertips, don’t let it go to waste.

2. Learn to smack fear in the face
Lets face it–things will always make us nervous, afraid, or shoot seem a lot “bigger than us”. I have plenty of thoughts//ideas that make my stomach churn. I learned a long time ago that I have two choices when this happens. Either ignore the thought so my stomach can settle, or act on the thought and turn that stomachache into one huge adrenaline rush. Fear can prohibit you from living a life fully lived. Don’t allow it. Think of something right now that makes you incredibly fearful and go do it.
You will be empowered, belive me.

2. Learn to be content
Now I know this sounds contradictory when talking about how to follow your dreams, but hear me out. I used to struggle BIG time when it came to following my dreams, and knowing what I really wanted to do in this life. It kept me up through the night, it had me changing jobs frequently, it caused many tears. Basically it sucked. My first “real” job was being a real estate agent at the age of 18, while still in high school. I thought I had my career set for the rest of my life. I was my own boss. I could wear pencil skirts and set my own hours. Long story short–after I got married I got out of real estate. Only to leave me questioning everything. In my head I NEEDED a job that was “profound” I NEEDED to be my own boss. I NEEDED a lavish title. Or so I thought. And then one day my wise friend told me “You know…I don’t think it matters as much about what you are doing, but how well you are doing it. You can be used in profound ways no matter where you work, what you do, or what your title is.” Friends, keep dreaming. Set big goals. Do everything in your power to get to that point. But if you aren’t there yet, don’t worry. Enjoy the ride.
And water the garden you are currently standing in.

Ladies–you are beautiful. You are strong. You are wise. You are important. And the world needs you.

Thank you for allowing me to chat with you all for a few minutes.
I would love to get to know you all a little bit better, so please come say hello.
And then tell me below–what is one thing that you do to feel loved or empowered?
I want to hear it.
