Hi, My Name Is Erin. I Use 4 Closets.

It’s true.
And sad.
And pathetic.
And let’s be honest, totally awesome.
Some may refer to me as a clothes hoarder.
I refer to me as somebody who buys something if I like it, need it, or think it’s a good deal.
Thankfully, everything seems to fall under at least one of those categories.
Thus resulting in this whole 60 day shopping freeze that I am on.
Word to the wise: not shopping for 60 days is for the birds.
Don’t ever convince yourself that it is a good idea, because it’s not.
It sucks.
Plain and simple.
Anyhow, back to the whole “I use 4 closets” thing.
You see, one of the perks of having no children is that you don’t have to have any children’s rooms in your home. Meaning, no closets have to be taken up by items that are the size of your pinkie.
Instead, you can use every single closet in your home for your own clothing.
How unselfish is that?
So, being the selfless person that I am, this is what I do.
And for some strange reason–a few of you have asked to see how I organize all of my shaz.
Let’s take a journey down the trail that I follow every morning when getting dressed shall we?
First stop. Our main closet. The home of any of my clothing that is colored. Yes, I have it organized by color. At least, I used to have it organized by color. Until it got so packed that I could no longer squeeze any additional items further back into their appropriate colored spot, hence the grouping of colors on the far right that is random. My bad.
This is also the home of my purses, hats, sweatshirts, and whatever other random goods I can throw up top.
Next up we have pants and shorts. All tucked away neatly in their own little respectful drawers.
Up above, you will also notice a drawer dedicated to my Nikibiki Collection. Can’t have those little suckers feel left out ya heard?
After making my way through closet number one, I usually have to make a pit stop at closet number two. Home of anything black//white//or work pant related.

After I am done putting my pants on {in front of a window that my neighbors can see…} I make a beeline for downstairs where I house all of my jackets, dresses, and tank tops.

When that is all said and done and I am finally appropriately clothed, I make a 4th stop at my accessory closet. By this time of the morning, I usually have 1 minute to get out of the door so I throw on anything that I halfway think matches my outfit for the day. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. You just gotta roll with the punches.

And last but not least. Shoes. I have somehow managed to hide shoes in every nook and cranny of our home it seems. In our closet, under our bed, in baskets, and again, under our bed. This sometimes makes my life a little stressful, but hey–what fun is getting dressed and not having to dig through a pile of gold to find your treasure? Or something like that.
Once my shoes are on my feet, I make a final stop in front of this mirror, where I assess the situation that was just thrown on my body. Again, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But we don’t really have time to change the “it doesn’t” in the morning, so again..I just roll with it. Chances are pretty good that by the time I walk out of the house, at least one stain will have happened.
So there you have it. My closet organization {or lack thereof} tour.
Anybody else out there hoard every closet in their home? Please say yes or I am going to look like the biggest nut job on the planet. You are right. It’s too late for that…
