Heavy Heart.

Let’s just shoot it straight today.
Dear Erin is not happening right now.
I know I said it was going to be every other Tuesday, however it is now going to be
“Any Tuesday that I actually feel like doing it..”
This means it could happen next week, next month, or next year.
It all depends on what my Monday night holds of that week.
And right now my Monday night is holdin’ a bible study that does a pretty good job of consuming my entire evening.

Aside from being pre-occupied physically, I am also feeling pre-occupied mentally.
Sometimes it is hard to be funny, cheery, and lets face it-- meaningless, when there are heavy/hard things happening around you.

Tuesday morning a good family friend of ours is going into surgery to have a large brain tumor and aneurysm removed that he just found out about a week or so ago.
He is laying down on the surgery table not truly knowing if he will wake up.
His four young children and wife will sit in the waiting room for the longest six hours of their life to hear the news that has the power to change their lives forever.
And this my friends, is why my heart is so sad.

Have you ever just stopped and really {we're talking really} thought
"How would I live my life differently if I knew it was possibly going to be my last day on Earth?"
It is one thing to playfully think of ideas and things you would do when seeing the phrase "live everyday as your last". But what if it wasn't just a quote that made you think of how you want to skydive, drink eight margaritas in an hour, or go get that tattoo you have been longing for?
Like you geniunely knew in the bottom of your heart, mind, and soul that today, this day, could really be your last? How would express the love you have for others more deeply and genuinely? Who would you forgive? How would you show gratitude to the ones that you are so thankful for?
Would you spend the day laughing or crying?

These are the things that this man is facing.

I can't even write how my heart feels at this momemt. I sit here and I weep. Like ugly, heartfelt, sobbing tears thinking of this thought. It tears me up inside to put myself in his situation.

How do you let go of a hug that you are giving your children and wife before you go into the operating room? I mean really. How? What do you say in that moment? How do you show to your family that you are strong when you are scared as Hell on the inside?

Friends, I am scared. I am sad. And I am full of confusion. I will never understand why bad things happen to good people. I don't think we are supposed to understand. The answer is on the other side.

With all of that being said, I have hope for this man and I have a good Lord watching over him.

Please if you have a minute, just say a little prayer that he will wake up. That everything will be normal again. And that he will get to hug and kiss his little ones and wife for not just days, but years to come.

Go live today with more love, vigor, and passion than ever before. And be kind to others.
You have no idea what they may be going through.

Love you all so so so much.

On A Scale Of 1-10...

What do you think of this outfit?
Top: Banana Republic//Pants & Bracelet: Forever 21//Shoes: Target <--still available

Let's be honest now.
1 is "Awful..you should be ashamed of yourself.." and 10 being "giiiirrrrrlll-----I loooove it."
The reason I ask is this.
Yesterday I threw this little concoction together after being inspired by this beauty here.
I walked out of the bedroom and made my grand entrance into the kitchen where my husband was sitting. His response "Oh yikes. You aren't wearing that out are you? Maybe you should wear that sometime when I am not with you..."
We've been married 5 years kids. It's cool, I can handle these things. I mean sure, he is missing a tooth now, but NBD.

Here is where your opinion comes into play--
If I get enough of you to error on the side of 10...maybe, just maybe, I will be allowed to wear it out in public.
My future is in your hands friends.
Me and my yellow pants are countin' on ya.

Now that we judged my outfit...lets rate these ladies below on a scale of 1-10.
They are clearly 10s. Or 20s.
What they are sharing with you today is just a smidgen of their awesomeness.
To take full advantage of what they are offering on the world wide web, you must click on their blogs and check them out further.
Ya heard?

Because I Can't Shop..You Might As Well.

Oh happy happy day.
I am seriously squealing in excitement about what is taking place at this moment.
It is no secret that my best friend owns her own clothing boutique.
I've mentioned Miss Chic several {several} times on this blog of mine.
And today I have exciting news to share with you.

If you have been around these parts since the beginning, you may recall when I introduced Amy and her shop, Miss Chic, here.
If you haven't been around for awhile, allow me to introduce you to the girl that takes up my Friday nights, phone calls, and is responsible for my wardrobe.
Friends, meet Amy.
The one who actually knows how to rock red lipstick....

Amy opened Miss Chic back in 2010 and since that date, many exciting things have happened with  that little big business of hers.
Which brings me to today.

Up until now, Miss Chic has been confined to this little area.
And while I loved that because it kept my wardrobe original, it wasn't fair to all of you lovely people who could benefit from purchasing Miss Chic's fabulous items {ie: handbags, jewelry, clothing}
This is where the fun begins.

As of today, Miss Chic is now nationwide.
Meaning you, you, you, and you can all buy from my favorite store of all time.
When I say half of my closet has come from her boutique, I mean half of my closet has come from her boutique.

Here are some of my favorite items that you can purchase online. Right this instant. Ahhhhh.....

And...I'm still squealing.

Three things I am loving about Miss Chic:

1. There are limited quantities of every item. This means that not everybody and their mom will have what you have.

2. Merchandise is added weekly. #Glorious.

3. The shipping is a flat rate of $4.95--meaning you could buy every item on the website and your shipping will remain the same. So yes, I encourage you smart shop and purchase every item on the website. It only makes sense.

Now if you want to be even smarter consumers, I would recommend following Miss Chic on Facebook and Twitter. This way you can keep up on sales and when new items are added.
Well there you have it.

I believe this is the proper time to say "go shopping".

..Oh, and hey. You may recognize the "model" on the website.
Ignore the pale face, flat hair, closed eyeballs, and just go with it.
Good talent is hard to find these days apparently.

PS. If you buy anything--you best be telling me what you got. I am now living vicariously through all of you and your purchases, I hope you know.

PPS. You may as well go ahead and save www.shopmisschic.com to your favorites. Just sayin'.

PPPS. One last thing--please for the love of you, pick up a few of the Nikibikis while you are there. They are hands down the BEST camisole you will ever own. Not a day goes by that I don't have one on. Check this out if you don't believe me. #Toldyou.

Amy--I am so proud of you. Thank you for making me look good. And now, thank you for making my readers look good. I owe you one.

Clearin' The Air.

Okay kids, looks like we have some clearin' up we need to do on hurrrr today.
First things first.
Tanning beds.
They are awful for you. I know this. My mother was a health teacher for 30+ years. Believe me, I know this. While I used to go tanning quite regularly in High School {okay every other day...} I do not go often now at all.

It just so happens that some of us are leaving for Florida in the near future, and I don't want my white butt to get fried if ya know what I'm sayin.
So yes, I went tanning.
And yes, I know it is horrible.
Thank you for your concern though.
As sarcastic as that may have sounded,  I meant that seriously.
Kids, if you are reading--don't go tanning. As my mom tells me "Do as I say...not as I do"

Next up.
Listen--I talk about wine on here a lot. Let me break down my drinking habits for you.
A few times a week (okay, usually nightly) I pour myself one glass of wine.
I typically end up drinking only half.
And that is exciting as my drinking life gets.

So as much as I try to make myself sound like an alcoholic, I really am not.
Father, if you are reading {which I know you are..}--do not be worried about me.
My liver is still performing at normal levels.

So now that we know that I am not a tanning obsessed alcoholic who needs to have an intervention, lets move on to much more exciting topics shall we?
Today I have a blogger friend of mine introducing her beautiful little self to you.
I have been following and reading Natalie's blog for pretty much ever.
I know yesterday I mentioned that I don't have a clear "why" on why I do this whole blogging thing, but I will say--meeting new friends is definitely one perk that is at the top of the list.
So please, meet this little perk of mine.

Natalie, take it away girlfriend.
Hello all you lovely people.
I know you're lovely mostly because you read Erin's blog.
And you must be awesome if you enjoy it as much as I do.
Not kidding, I love it so much I even blogged about it once.
Groupie status?

Anyways, enough of you, more about me.
(Kidding, I think you're all way cooler than I am)
I'm Natalie.
It's my little slice of internet chocolate.
(because, let's be honest, what is better than chocolate?)
I'm an interior design major at Texas Tech
out in the major metropolis of Lubbock, TX.
Originally I'm from the tiny town of Houston.
Population: roughly 6 million.
It's one of those places where you know everyone and everyone knows you.
Ya know, the small town vibe and all.
I have a pretty great boyfriend.
We're not the perfect couple by anyone's standards.
But we are silly.
Which is my favorite part of life.
The silliness.
Which is why my blog is filled with all sorts of crazy, ridiculous things.
I like to think laughter and happiness are as essential to life as breathing.
And if you don't, you probably aren't alive.

If you aren't convinced that you want to click on over to my blog,
let me just say that if your favorite parts of Living in Yellow
are Erin's love of Mac & Cheese and Chick-fil-a, her occasional gangsta moments,
and her hilarious stories, you'll find all those over at my blog too.
Oh, and while you're busy clicking around,
you might as well check me out on Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest as well.

As for me, I guess I'll let Erin have her blog back now.
Ciao nuggets.
Isn't she cute?
Now really go get to know her.
To do so, you must click here.

Come back this weekend to shop some of  my favorite finds ;)
I figured if I can't...you might as well get to.
Here is a sneek peak of what you will get to purchase. #Jealous.

See you soon lover beans.

PS. Thank you so much for all of the love yesterday. In my last question of "what keeps you coming back to this whole blogging thing...?" I meant why do YOU blog. A lot of you took it as "Why do you come back and read MY blog?" Needless to say, your answers were the sweetest. In fact, some of them made me tear up. Gosh I love you all.

The Thing About Blogging...

Back on February 1, 2011 when I sat down and wrote my first ever blog post, I had no idea what I was doing. Clearly. Look at how small my pictures were back then.
However, a lot of the time now, I still feel like I have no idea what I am doing.
I ask myself all of the time "Why?!" "Why do you blog Erin?"
And I have yet to come up with a solid answer.
I have no freakin' idea why I blog.
But it feels good so I just keep comin' back for more.
I suddenly feel like this is an infomercial for crack.
I think the mystery of "why" helps keep me interested. Motivated. And excited about all of this blogging business. Who knows if I will ever have a clear definition on why I blog. But to be honest about it, I kinda hope I don't. There is something great and valuable about doing something just because you like it. No big, heavy, "I want to change the world or become a millionare from this" kind of reason.
Doing something just because.
I like just because.

The other thing about blogging is that my ideas for posts come in waves.
Some weeks the ideas flow like wine.
And some weeks {like now} I am clueless. As if there is not one single thing that I can find inspiration from. And up until now, I would fight it. I would think negative thoughts about myself and blogging. I would start to tell myself that if what I am posting is not either extremely hilarious or life enhancing, it has no value.
And to be honest with you, I've come to realize that those thoughts are a pile of crap.

Some of my favorite posts are the ones that have happened from me sitting down at the computer with not one idea of what I want to say. Where I just have to sit and see where my thoughts and fingers take me.

So that's the thing about blogging.
Sometimes you know what you are gonna get, sometimes you don't.
You just gotta enjoy the ride.

I say all of this to bring you to my post today.
As of recent, my ideas have been few and far between for blog posts. I used to lie awake at night writing down ideas as they came to me. This was great for blogging, not so great on my energy levels.
Thankfully, I have found that if I drink right before bed, I have no problem sleeping through the night.

With that being said, I thought it would be entertaing to just share with you things from my day today.
{you will now know why I have not been inspired...}
I was once asked to share a "day in my life" post--and well, consider this that.

--Woke up at 6:45//showered//got ready//ate peanut butter toast on the drive into work//arrived around 8 am

--Sat in a meeting next to a friend who was coughing up a storm. I lean over and ask "Do you want a mint?!?" She responds excitedly "YES!!" to which I have to say "Oh my gosh. I don't even have one..I don't know why I asked you that...sorry!!"

--Lunch at 11 with my favorite 3rd grader ever. Every Wednesday I go and hang out at a local elementary with a kid. I am considered his "mentor" however, he just throws dodgeballs at my head. Today I loaded this picture on Twitter of us together.
I told him what I did and he says "You put that on Twitter?!?" so I say non-chalently "Well of course...you are my favorite lunch date". That kid sat and stared and smiled for what seemed like eternity. I am teary eyed as I write this. It was such a precious moment where I knew--he felt so valued and loved. Ahh. Moments like those are what make this life so great. Amen?

--Back to work where I continued to drink the same coffee that I brewed at 8 am. Cold coffee and I share a special bond. It also stains my teeth and makes my pee really yellow. Fascinating.

--Done at 5.

--Go sit in the lobby at the tanning bed for a solid 20 minutes surrounded by orange teenagers. The only thing that seemed to remedy the situation was to text my husband about my cravings for chicken fried rice.

--Leave the tanning bed. Braless and Sweaty. #ImtrashyandIknowit.
{picture from Instagram--Follow me--Livinginyellow}

--Sit down at my computer and here we are. Wine in hand. Dinner yet to be made. And bath to be had.

The end.

So tell me friends--what keeps you coming back time and time again to this whole blogging thing?
I'd love to hear it.
